Carplay not working

Hi guys, I have a p450 year my21, I can’t get CarPlay to work at all, all I get is “Connection failed. Disconnect USB cable, reconnect and try again.”

Could it be the infotainment software needs updating, if so how do I do that?

I initially had intermittent connection (but it just disconnected rather that having an error) which was a combination of a dodgy usb lead, plus a small amount of fluff in the phone's charge port.

New lead plus a toothpick to remove the fluff sorted it.
 
Thanks, mines a brand new phone and a brand new lead, although the lead is not an apple one, could that make a difference?

I’ll try another lead and see if it works
