Car locks itself

Hello

My car locks itself after about 30 seconds if I unlock it without opening a door etc. I don’t want it to do this, for example when I am washing the car.

Can this be fixed?

Don't think so, it's in case you accidentally unlock it after walking away, it will simply relock itself, it's for security.

Just open and close a door after unlocking, then it'll stay unlocked. If you're washing start with the door shuts, once you've opened the door it'll stay unlocked.

You could leave the keys inside the car when your washing it.......the doors will stay unlocked then.

I prefer to lock the car when I’m washing it to prevent too much water getting in around the open door handles. I then unlock the car to wash the inside of the door sills etc

Is there no risk of the alarm setting off?

Its supposed to do that, as stated for security. All JLR cars do it. Annoying if you have the keys in your pocket as it continually keeps unlocking/locking every few minutes depending where you are sloshing the water/mitt. Better to just open the door once.

I just open and close the driver's door (I have two stage unlocking set) - job done. The only annoyance is brushing against the passenger door button when I'm washing it and locking the car!

My alarm hasn't gone off when I've washed the car with the keys inside and the doors unlocked.

There again, if I was shaking the car like a gorilla in the process of washing it.....that's a different matter

Funny thing is I am using the Liquid Elements silverback gorilla towel.
