Some people show their likes by quoting the post and adding a thumbs up icon, or "+1". But you're right, a like button would be a good addition, although i think some time ago it was asked for but soundly rejected by some.

Where’s the thumbs up emoji? I can only see a handful on the right when posting and no thumbs up.

It’s just a keyboard emoji on my I pad. Agree, we need a or a added to the smilies on the right.
