Brake hose replacement

I put my car in for an MOT recently and it failed on a badly corroded right front flexi brake hose. Seems like a simple replacement really, but not at all! I can't find a replacement hose anywhere (eBay, google general, Land Rover Jaguar dealers, breakers etc) and now my car's stuck at the MOT centre waiting for a hose on backorder. The last item I got on backorder from Jaguar took about two months, and I don't really want to be left without my car for that long. The part number is T2R18409. The only places I found it are in the US and most don't ship internationally. I had the idea of getting a hose made up, but due to the bracket, apparently that's not so simple.

So, I'm just hoping that someone may be able to give me some advice. Is there an interchangeable part number I can search for to use in its place, maybe off an 2014/15 XK or an XF? Or if anyone knows of a secret stash, or someone that might have made them up before? Any advice would be appreciated as I'd quite like to get the car back on the road by Saturday morning

Thanks in advance

It is possible to use a US intermediary to ship from there. There are a few specialists; this is one I found.

You will get clobbered for import duty and VAT of course.

@Millwheel - Thank you will take a look at that

@GBH - Thanks, have already phoned Rimmerbros, they get their hoses from Jaguar and don’t actually have any in stock so would also get them on backorder. Appreciate you taking a look though

I'd also suggest Goodridge as I've just had a set of stainless brake hoses made up for my van

@gasgas & @Kev, Thanks guys, I phoned Goodridge in Exeter yesterday and they put me on to CAMAUTO and DaemonTweeks, who had the same message. The problem seems to be the bracket/brightwork on the end of the hose, and they don't have access to that. I think my best bet is to try and source it from the US via the intermediary shipping company as Millwheel suggested or live with the backorder from LRJ and hope that they get the restock soon. Cheers for the suggestions though

Is this what you are looking for?

Thanks @CSGMART, this is for carbon ceramic brakes, but the correct side etc and the bracket looks the same. Do you think this would be okay to use as a replacement for super performance brakes (red caliper)? I’ll message the seller, but if you know? They have a similar a similar part T2R10204 too, but they’re also for ceramic. Not sure if connection might be different?

I'm afraid I don't know if the hose from a carbon brake model would fit your performance brakes but unless the physical size of the connection is different my guess is it would fit.

Alternatively have you enquired whether Goodridge (or any one else who makes up brakes hoses) they would take your existing hose and reusing the bracket? If that's the only thing stopping them it would allow them to complete the job.

No problem - I don't want to jinx it but I may have found a spare (unless I hear that it's not actually on the shelf and is incorrect in the system, which happened once already).

There' a few issues with the attached/failed hose. It's the bracket/coupling that's failed due to corrosion, so there's a chance it can't be reused (I have to accept what I'm told there). Also being an OEM part still in production, I was told there are some anti-compete agreements in place between Goodridge and JLR, which kind of makes sense - although there are other custom hose suppliers that could have probably done it. The other key issue is that the guys at the garage are reluctant to take the hose off. They're unable to crimp the rigid brake pipe, and they don't have a good way to plug/bung it. I suggested it to them, but it's a no go I'm afraid and now the car's SORN and stuck there for the moment so I can't move it to try to get that done. Last resort, a friend of mine would bring his car trailer down and we'd look into getting the hose off ourselves at his place.

Fingers crossed that the one in stock exists and will show up on Monday :D

@gasgas, I was close to trying that, but I managed to track one down last Thursday in the end and am very happy to say it arrived an hour ago and has been dropped off at the garage to be fitted!

I just wanted to say thanks to everyone for all of the suggestions and any time spent searching. I did also contact an Ebay seller in Lithuania who was also able to supply the part, but I'd already managed to order the other one by that point. Anyway thanks again :)

Although this thread is now 6 month old I thought it may help if anyone has a brake hose issue in the future and difficulty obtaining the parts. As at January 2025 the situation is still the same with them scarce.

The hoses listed on official parts catalogues and in retailers as 'Ceramic brakes only' are in fact correct in every aspect for the High Performance brakes (380mm) and more freely available. They have a minor small extra part at the body end mount bracket, presumably to bolt a senor or similar onto, but it's not relevant. These hoses are full end to end braided as per the originals with proper ABS and pad wear clips, so Goodrich doesn't seem a required solution nor upgrade.

As an aside the garage who worked on gmjag's car clearly don't understand brakes or car hydraulic systems properly.
There is no need to bung or clamp hoses as fluid only drains out of the open pipes if the brake pedal is fully up (released). All it needs doing is pressing down gently by an inch and locking there (using a piece of wood or proper tool to the seat squab) and that closes off the fluid supply. Mine's been like it for a week as I work around all 4 corners with various calipers and hoses off and not a single drip, except when I initially break the joints and it runs out of the removed hoses. Super easy job.

If anyone ever needs post parts and I'll put up all the part numbers for to replace all the hoses
