Bigotry etc

I'm disappointed to have to write this, but I'm grateful to one user who reported an offensive, homophobic post. The user who wrote that post, who was an active member with over 500 posts, has been banned permanently, and the post has been deleted.

I wish to make it crystal clear that this forum is dedicated to our cars, our motoring, and our enthusiasm. It is NOT a place for bigotry or offence of any kind. There are plenty of places you can go online to do those things.

Equality and respect are the key words here, and I'm grateful to you all for the mature, tolerant, and reasoned nature of almost all of the debate and discussion in this forum.

Let's keep it that way. Anything which appears transgressive should be reported to admin without delay.

It's impossible to offend someone if they choose not be offended - offence has to be taken, not given. That said, it's incumbent upon us not to deliberately go out to push buttons.

I hope you would agree, scm, that using the sexual preference of a group of people to ridicule, is not acceptable.

The user concerned has now created two more profiles here to fight their corner, but should know that they are not welcome back.

I'm closing this thread now.
