Been on forum for a year

Been following the forum for a year now and finally decided to ask a question. I have a 2017 P300 (I am in Scotland) and need a new set of tyres. Any recommendations as to best for daily usage as I use the car most days. I just love driving the beast.

Hi mike we're are you from I live in the central belt, I like good year F1 assemco 5 tyres they offer fantastic grip A rated in wet cheaper than mitchilins by £50 at least although I do have mitchilins just fitted on rears , joe

If you plan to drive in ice and snow or when temps are belwo 7C (45F) you should consider getting all-season tires.
Michelin do a Pilot Sport AS 4 which handles pretty good and is Winter-rated.
There are other AS options that fit as well.

The problem with AS tyres is that they are the best of nothing.
For a daily driver - maybe less so over the past 2 years! - a car like the F deserves good boots. I have PS4s tyres for most of the year and Sottozero for the cold season. If you have the space and funds for a set of winter wheels this is the best solution in my humble opinion.

Sorry to jump on this thread, but can anybody recommend somewhere in the South of England that has the standard, non-Porsche or Merc labelled, Michelin 4S available? I have tried every major online retailer (and some smaller garages), and none of them have the tyre in the size for my P450 and the only place that would order them were Costco and they quoted a 2 month lead-time! It's for future reference more now, as I've had to go with an alternative (Conti SportContact 6, as the new 7 isn't available in the right size yet!)

The standard rears are 295/30/R20 (101Y).

There are places that do the Porsche-stickered version, but Michelin's own euro sticker shows it is a worse tyre in the wet than the standard version. Thanks but no thanks.

To clarify - do you mean Pirelli or Michelin?

Er

Whoops! That's my annoyance (at the tyre companies) getting in the way of typing properly! Michelin Pilot Sport 4S - I can't see me using the PZeros again unless they were the only tyre available.

I depends on your wheel size. Black Circles usually have the generic P4S available for 20 inch wheels. Whilst they don't name the fitting outlets, it's pretty easy to work out who it is from the address. Gives me 2 places I'd pick out to use.

The only P4S all the places list for my tyre size is the Porsche N0 labelled variant. The size that Jag used for the P450 (and other models I suspect) limits the choice somewhat - it's a 295/30/R20 that I needed. As mentioned, I've ordered some Conti tyres now anyway, as I got frustrated with being ignored or fobbed off by multiple companies, but it would be nice to find somewhere for the future - though I suspect the P4S will get superceded by the time I need these new tyres replaced.

For what it's worth, the PZero (AM labelled) tyres the car came with have lasted just under 6000 miles. I do tend to drive "spiritedly" but I lack the confidence to be sending a £78K car sideways. I wasn't expecting stellar mileage though, I was going through rears on my old 200SX in the same sort of time.

I've had Pirellis and Dunlops on my previous Jags and have usually got around 10,000 miles from them. When a mobile fitter brought a non-J marked replacement for a pothole damaged tyre I accepted it when the guy told me "they're all the same anyway". Well, they aren't - the part -worn J-marked tyre on the other side wore down to need replacement at the same time as the new "all the same" tyre so it had done approximately half the mileage. I guess I'll be needing new rears for my f-Type soon - must get on my hands and knees and check!

I looked at PS4 305/30 R20 online a week ago and they were available. As you say, today, there are no generic 305 or 295 Michelin's anywhere. Even ATS, which I think might be owned by Michelin, hardly have any PS4s variants of any kind listed.

The PS5 has just come out, so I wonder if they will be coming into stock instead, at some point.

The PS5 came out in Feb as a replacement for the PS4.
There should be a PS5s (for sport) coming out shortly, hence likely that with shortages of most things they are ramping down production of the PS4s.

I know I've probably just hit things at a bad time, and maybe demand for this tyre in the South West is very low, but it's the apathy from a lot of the retailers that has annoyed me the most. I'm actually still waiting for an answer from Blackcircles - 3 days and counting.

Anyhoo, just wanted to see if anybody did know where I could get some, as I can still cancel the current Conti order, but it looks like I wasn't going mad. I'll see what the Conti SportContact 6 is like, but I know I won't be buying them again given the recent launch of the 7, and maybe the replacement Pilot Sport will be out by that stage and available!

Apols to the OP for the slight hijack.

jet tyres in benfleet essex have both j marked p zeros in stock and also ps4’s . i have swapped p zeros for ps4s on the ferrari and its a different car… so much more plated on the road , drives like its on rails.
no more p zeros for me!

Hotlurve

That’s very helpful

My car is fitted with P Zeros front and back, had it 8 months and, due to a family matter, have been driving the car more than planned - every cloud has a silver lining!

I have noticed of late that the car seems to ‘tramline’ more than expected and am putting this down to the P Zeros, so having a tyre replacement firm local to me that supplies J marked PS4’s is great news.

Not that the tyres need replacing quite yet…….

Correct - from the Michelin website:
ATS Euromaster is a distribution network owned by the Michelin group and was created in 1965. With over 50 years of experience, the network has become one of the leaders in the market of tyre and vehicle repair services in the UK.

I think you've misread the post - it's the Pirellis that are J-marked. I don't think Michelin produce tyres to Jaguar specifications.
