Battery Quiescent Current

Had my V6S Coupe serviced last week and there was an update for the above which was carried out at the same time. Just wondered what it was and whether battery life/charge will be improved as a result? Anyone else had the update?<br /><br />Regards.<br /><br /><br />Scoobydoo

Isn't that just a battery test to measure the current flow with the car switched off and locked up etc...?<br>i.e. The drain rate on the battery.<br>

Not sure - on Topix it is listed as K275 Battery Quiescent Current RSA which I took to mean Recall Service Advisory but I'm only guessing that's what it means. The service guy told me it was an update but I was just curious to find out what it was. If it is just a current drain check then i assume that others will have had the same check performed?<br /><br />Regards.<br /><br /><br />Scoobydoo

Thanks for the explanation Hannah. Much appreciated.<br><br>So now i'm curious as to whether my car has had this reconfiguration work done, because I often have periods where the car isn't started for a week, and I know when I hook up the battery charger, it seems to take quite a while to get the battery up to full charge.<br><br>I wonder if you can verify this for me Hannah.<br><br>Thanks.<br>

Hi Hannah,<br /><br />Thank-you very much for explaining what this Service Action sets out to rectify.<br /><br />Regards.<br /><br /><br />Scoobydoo

I've just had the first service done on mine (V6 340PS Coupe), 5000 Miles & and year old (where has that gone!).<div>Car feels even better after the service, one thing though, I noticed that there weren't any updates done (well none reported on the sheet), is this correct or do they only do them if a problem has arisen?</div>

Hi Nishso,<br /><br />I had no issues with my car and I use a Jaguar battery conditioner every time I put it away. However, I haven't done as many miles as you in the first year as I don't use the car unless the sun is shining! I guess the easiest way to see if your car should have the update is to ask your dealer to check to see if K275 - Battery Quiescent Current RSA is recommended for your VIN. I believe they can soon check for any outstanding RSA's on TOPIX (Jaguars on-line service record and actions system).<br /><br />Regards<br /><br />Scoobydoo

Thanks Scoobydoo - yeah, I do use mine as an everyday car - should be fun going home tonight - it's lashing it down out there!<div>I was just curious about ALL updates/recalls etc. I've always assumed that the dealer would either call you in if an emergency recall or update whenever your car goes in. I personally have never had a battery problem and I don't use a conditioner, (touching wood as I type here!). I guess this is because I use it every day.</div>

Hi The Jagster,<div><br></div><div>I can confirm that this bulletin is relevant for a limited number of 2015 model year XJ and F-Type vehicles. There are no current outstanding service actions for your particular vehicle.</div><div><br></div><div>If you feel you have experienced concerns with your vehicles battery, please do not hesitate to PM me with further details. I would be more than happy to assist.</div><div><br></div><div><br></div><div>Kind regards,</div><div><br></div><div>Hannah</div>

<div><br></div><div>Hannah/Pete,</div><div><br></div><div>A personal 'Thank you' (and I'm sure I speak for all members on the forum) for some useful and helpful information/clarification.</div><div>It's a common concern for most, if not all F-Type owners, as they are pretty power hungry!</div><div><br></div><div>Tel</div>

<div><br></div><div>Pete/Hannah</div><div><br></div><div>Can you please advise the VIN range for F-Types that are covered by this bulletin?</div><div>My 2015 has had several occurrences of flat battery since I purchased, and the dealer hasn't advised me that they have had to carry out any service bulletin.</div>

Hi Kiwiandy,<div><br></div><div>To confirm, for the F-Type, this is for VIN range K10868 - K22185</div><div><br></div><div>If you have experiencing any starting concerns or concerns with the battery and your vehicle falls within this VIN range, I would suggest contacting your local Jaguar retailer to ensure that K275 has been completed.</div><div><br></div><div>Kind regards,</div><div>Hannah</div><div><span style="line-height: 1.4;"><br></span></div>

My 2015 R (delivered mai 2014) is within this range (it's a K11xxx), but according to my local dealer there is no service action K275 for my car, nor has it been completed earlier?<div> </div><div>However since I have not had any problems with battery drain, and after a week or two (or even longer) in storage, it takes less than 12 hours to fully charge the battery with my Ctek battery charger/tender, I don't think that is an issue for my car.</div><div> </div><div>It is however another service action waiting to be done to it, and that is K309 (O2-sensor).</div>

Hi Arne,<br /><br />I had no issues with mine. Like you I use a battery conditioner but the dealer did the work anyway. Maybe not all vehicles in the range of VINs quoted were affected. Looking at the numbers that Pete@jaguar has quoted would seem to indicate over 11000 cars (assuming increments of 1 in VIN allocation), which does seem to be rather a lot.<br /><br />

What I cant understand is why we should have to use a battery charger/conditioner on these cars at all?<div>I travel for business regularly, and am often away 2-3 weeks at a time. none of my other cars (mostly BMW in recent years) have ever had a problem with a flat battery when i have returned?</div>

Hannah<div>Thanks for you reply I have asked them about this, they tell me my car was built after the date range for this update...k25832</div><div>correct me if i have misread the earlier posts, but is this a firmware update as well as reconfiguring the wiring?</div><div><br></div>
