hi guys , will my battery die and cause loads of electrical issues on my return ? i had a 911 and the battery would last a couple of weeks then i could jump it and it would be ok

I've left mine for 3 months and it started fine. It gave a low battery warning and I gave it an overnight charge, but it should still be usable after 6 weeks. In fact, I've just started using mine again after 6 weeks following a stay in hospital, this time it only needed an 8 hour charge.

The guys who have given the advice are knowledgeable and experienced.
I would however just advise you take a couple of steps:

Be prepared for it not starting and at least have an action plan of what you’ll do, which given the 911 experience you’ll likely have. Jump start is ok, but flat batteries destroy themselves and the F Type doesn’t take well to low voltages.

Depends how soon the trip is but I’d stick a voltmeter in the battery and get a reading after as long as you can leave it without starting. That will tell you the rate of discharge, if it’s still 12.6v or more then no issue. If lower then post here and I can tell you the discharge rate

Incidentally mine will last a max of 2-3 weeks before failing to start. New battery, charges well and uses a ctec to keep it in good condition..

Sods law states - Yes, it will!

I have been regularly leaving mine 4-6 weeks for the last since 2015 and not used during the winter or wet.

Charged once a week when I'm at home with my tender (CTEK MX5), and charged just before I go away on business.

The original battery is 8 years old and still going strong....
The only time I get gremlins is when I'm running Torque Pro via my OBD2 Bluetooth dongle for oil temp, diff temp etc and I disconnect without ending the session.
Simple lift of the +ve terminal for a minute and she's good to go.

I’ve just convinced myself I need to give it a gallons worth of “beans” once a week, it was bought to be used after all.

If it on ctek it will be good for months... Agree they like to be used. If not using, not good to start and warm as it will just get condensation on various parts...

wow , some real experts here thank you guys , i ve decided to leave it on a trickle charger at my sisters house to head off any possible electrical gremlins when i get back.... cheers fellas

IMHO this is the safest option especially as it's something you can do, rather than take the risk.
Just to check when you say ''trickle charger'' it should really be a smart charger/battery manager such as a CTEK MX5, when left on long term, rather than one that simply pumps in current continuously, albeit at a lower amperage.

My 2014 V8 Convertible. Haven't been able to drive recently. Battery low. I just bought a CTEK MXS 7.0, but don't know how to connect it up. Do I have to get to the battery itself in the boot? Or can I use the poles under the bonnet?

Thanks
Richard

There is a negative stud near the positive terminal for that very purpose, see "Connecting Jump Leads" in your handbook.
