Anyone know this F type?

Hi again - I’m still on the hunt for an F type R and have found another one that meets the brief:

https://www.autotrader.co.uk/car-details/202303024818610?minimum-badge-engine-size=5.0&advertising-location=at_cars&price-to=45000&postcode=SN119NJ&body-type=Convertible&model=F-Type&page=2&make=Jaguar&include-delivery-option=on&sort=relevance&percentVehiclePriceDeposit=true

BX64 VOP - anyone know it? Also it’s on a 64 plate but advertised as a 2016 car, unless I’m going mad isn’t a 64 plate a 2014/15 car? Also I thought the 2016 cars had the newer infotainment and bonnet vents lower down.

Also quite like this one but worried I won’t be able to live with the stock hifi…

@simpleR you were so kind helping me with the prior one I looked at but decided with your help had too many issues. I’m just waiting for the right one!

Thanks all

It could well be a late registration, not all cars get registered as they leave the production line.

Regarding the bonnet vents, the lower down ones signify AWD cars, the RWD cars' vents are close to the windscreen as they've always been.

Are you sure that’s right? A 2016 car registered late would be on say a 2017 plate
Seems more like it’s on a personal and older reg plate

Ah sorry, I got things the wrong way round! Must engage brain before fingers!

If you know the VIN the 10th digit identifies the MY:

E - 2014 Model Year
F - 2015 Model Year
G - 2016 Model Year
H - 2017 Model Year
J - 2018 Model Year

They updated the cockpit screen graphics for 2016 MY cars to the carbon look and this car has that in the centre dials. It's a 2016 car on a 14 plate.

Also, just check the MOT history: https://www.check-mot.service.gov.uk/results?registration=BX64VOP

Registered May 2016

I would be concerned about this image:

It shows the lining has been removed in the boot. Possible past issue with roof? Leak? I'd investigate that further before buying. Not a deal breaker though but make sure.

Thanks everyone - I still can’t help thinking something is weird, it’s AWD but bonnet vents are at the top. The graphics on the infotainment screen look to me like the first gen? Great spot on the boot lining - you mean it seems to be missing the cut out? The indentation? Thanks again

This is the screen / graphics I mean, I thought 2016 cars had a more modern design for the centre screen

Don’t worry about the boot lining (trim joints near the hood), that’s quite normal.
The rubber seal is used to help hold it in place but over time and with vibration from the miles they drop down a bit.

The black one is car 18534 and is MY16 specification.

It was a Jaguar car PDI on 6th Nov 2014 (which is very early for a MY16 spec) but then not registered until 2rd March 2015. However the car missed its first and second service and next appears at COPART on 12th August 2016 for a service with just 257 miles on the clock before presumably put into storage or repairs as it next appears with 398 miles on the clock on 17th May 2017. After further gaps, it was last seen by Jaguar on 2nd Feb 2021 in Leeds.
So it should be on service number 9 now but only has 4 recorded up to 2021.

The car has been untaxed since October 2022 and has two pending warnings for cherished private plate transfers as incomplete.
Clear on PNC, clear MOT history, but there is type information on V5c.

Based on the above, early MY16 spec but on 64 plate, limited info on V5c, COPART, etc, it was probably a demo MY16 spec used for Jaguar's own use. However what they used it for I don't know.

The red one is car 16176 and is MY15 specification. Which is a v8 S (488bhp)

PDI 17th July 2014 by Paragon Fleet solutions, so no idea who had it first. Last seen by Jaguar in Jan 2021 in Cheltenham with just 4 services recorded online but I believe it has been serviced 6 times based on information available.

There is a previous sale online from 15th Nov 2021. Currently an MOT warning for worn tyres and has two previous fails for tyre and pressure related issues.
Clear on PNC, looks nice.

Awesome - thanks so much! Think just too many oddities on the black one then with all that info SimplyR but the red one is a lovely looking thing. Maybe I can live with the lower spec hifi (and 488bhp is plenty). Sounds like some haggle room re tyres and the sale in ‘21 contradicts the dealers one owner story. Thanks again

If you were selling the red one on auto trader then the price would be £27,830.
It's currently up for £34,440. So haggle away!!

The advert says 1 owner and full Jaguar service history.
It is actually 2 previous owners and it does not have a full Jaguar service history unless there is paperwork for the ones not recorded online.

So more haggling info for you there.

If you're happy with everything else, the base sound system wouldn't be a deal breaker for me. Sound deadening the doors & a speaker upgrade isn't hard to do and makes a big difference. Other topics on here go into more detail if required.

Try both a R and a V8s....if you can.
Most Rs are awd, a bit heavier then the S but then the S doesn't have the traction of the R.
In the dry there is not much in it, definitely doesn't feel like 60hp difference but that may be due weight difference.
All depends if you plan to use it in anger in the wet?

My S was up for sale (sort of) but is back in hibernation again after last service.

Good luck with your search.👍

Thanks again all - v helpful. Thanks for haggle room points - a lot of margin there it seems. I have driven an RWD R and an AWD R (and an AWD SVR around Thruxton - which was awesome and my favourite car or of the day - over Ferrari / mclaren for fun). It’ll be a daily all year round but I raced Caterhams for a few years and - famous last words - think the RWD one won’t phase me wet or dry. I have a slight preference for RWD but happy with either for the right car. Carbon ceramics on the red one probably overkill on the road but they look nice. Worked brilliantly on the track in the SVR. Do I need to worry about injector failure on these older cars?

Rwd and SottoZero works for me 😎

I’m probably as unlucky as you get, having had 2 injector experiences with failing open and 5 of the 6 replaced, but since having the car it’s been run on Momentum 99 and I’m sure that’s helped keep it cleaner and healthier than when I bought it. I try to give it a decent pull each time it’s used out of town too, to clear its throat.

Epic pic! Thanks for info on injectors. Defo something to be aware of then. I do need to rely on the car - did they change anything on the newer ones does anyone know or is it just age that seems to be older cars reporting issues?

If you search for the topic “bonnet vents and water ingress” the injector revision info and latest versions are on there.
I’m sure it’s a pretty rare problem overall, and only a big deal if the injector is stuck / breaks on attempted removal.

Take autotrader valuation with a pinch of salt. Their values are normal below trade. Example....offered me 22300 for my wife's fpace, every other online trade valuation had it around rhe 24k, ended up selling it for 24300 to the trade. Probably on a forecourt for 28k now.
