Hi everyone, <br /><br />Just ordered a V6 coupe auto today in caldera red, hoping to use it mainly as a GT for regular jaunts between Lake District (home) and Oxford (work), and more fun on the Cumbrian twisties.<br /><br />Somehow set out to get a sensible SUV to replace aging RR Vogue and ended up buying an F Type. Everything else I tried seemed so boring compared to the F Type. Anyone know if these cars come with raised air intake for floods!?<br /><br />Agonised over options like others, but the forum has already been really useful for this. Settled for the stock 18 wheels (for comfort, low noise and potholes) but figure I could turn them into a winter set and upgrade later if necessary. Otherwise, parking pack, visibility pack, cruise, heated seats/wheel, keyless entry, red belts, Meridian 380w, <br /><br />Couple of questions:<br /><br />1) left out the pan roof as i figured a solid roof might be a bit quieter for motorway cruising. Anyone any experience of comparing?<br />2) Any tips on best paint protection for a solid colour? Dealer is offering Williams F1 ceramic something or other.<br /><br />It's going to be a long wait till March.
 
Welcome Yousif.<br>It sounds like you've thought about all the practical details before you hit the order button. A wise move I think, especially when you have a particular kind of regular use in mind.<br>I certainly find my V6s Cabrio a great GT car. I'm sure the Coupe will be just as GT capable, if not, more so.<br><br>I can't answer any of your questions, but I am interested to read any recommendations from other folk. <br>

Have coupe with pan roof and find it quite at motorway speeds roof glass is 6mm laminate so sound resonance better than metal hope this helps

<div><br></div><div>I personally have paint protection film (PPF) on the whole car (a clear wrap, basically), but others on here have had their cars pro-detailed and finished in products such as Gtechniq, there'll be recent threads on this.</div><div><br></div><div>Detailing/chemical finish will be a fair bit cheaper than PPF, or at leas in the case of my PPF anyway, but I couldn't say how the two compare. All I can say is the PPF has definitely protected my car from several chips already, the evidence is there to see in some of the small marks that I've picked up on the film.</div>

Thanks for all the advice, much appreciated.<br /><br />I am guessing frequent polishing is part of the ownership experience so probably won't go for a film solution.<br /><br />Really agonising over the panoramic roof, although the order went in yesterday, guessing I could change the roof over the next week or so. I thought the acoustic headlining on the solid roof would make it a more relaxing motorway experience (opening the windows to hear the soundtrack on the twisties), but perhaps the glass roof is quiet anyway.<br /><br />Tried a convertible with the roof up and didn't find it overly dark and claustrophobic and figured the solid roof coupe would be similar- any more views from anyone who has tried a coupe with/without pan roof back to back would be really welcome.<br /><br />Thanks
 
So I read somewhere the wading limit is 5in which is what we call a puddle in Cumbria. <br />Clearly it's bonkers to buy this car for wading but it would be useful to know if this is just JLR being cautious or the air intakes or ecu are really around that height?
 
Well, put it this way.......To replace the air filter, you remove the passenger side inner wheel arch cover in order to get access to the filter housing which is located just forward of the font wheel...about the same height as the axle.<br>

I'm sure you'll be so engrossed by the driving experience - accelerating down the road, listening to the exhaust etc - that the panoramic roof will be the last thing on your mind. I've had my car since September and literally only used the roof twice. I like being cocooned in the car and can't say I'd miss it if I didn't have it. </div><div><br></div><div>As for protection, I had mine detailed with a Modesta coating. I give it wash every week and it comes up like new - no polishing required. Thanks Mobysan, <br /><br />I was hoping someone would say they wouldn't miss the pan roof. <img src="http://www.ftypeforums.co.uk/images/converted_files/smileys/smiley1.gif" border="0" align="middle" /> in red I think it looks better without so I will probably stick with the solid roof and still hoping to lose a decibel or two of road noise on the motorway.<br /><br />The Modesta coating looks fab. Can I ask how long it lasts for and roughly what the cost was for an f type?<br /><br />
 
Hi,<br><br>I have a Salsa red coupe and also decided against the panoramic roof, mainly because it didn't open and it came with a black headlining. I did go for the grey morzine headlining with the solid roof though and it brightens up the inside quite a bit contrasting nicely with the black leather seats and dash.<br>

Jagster<br /><br />How is the inner wheel arch liner attached, are they easily removed , do the clips break getting it off

Its good that the new spec includes torque vectoring as in lower grip situations I do find the back wanting to slide out in spirited Lake District driving so I guess the TV would control this better, but as I said elsewhere I was also after a purer experience so am happy to have the basic traction control etc. which is definitely necessary.</div><div><br></div><div>If you are buying new its probably worth getting the servicing pack as its a 12 month service anyway, and I am glad I took advice to get a GTechniq detail when it was new rather than accepting what the dealer was offering. A reasonably robust pre wash with a pressure washer is all it takes to bring up the shine with an occasional traditional hand wash, even after a year.</div>
 
Welcome Yousif ...<div> </div><div>Mine came with the roof and it was something I wanted. If you're not fussed then maybe invest in the 3/5yr service pack as suggested above. As suggested above, and depending on interior colour choice, you may consider a lighter roof trim to give a more airy feel to the interior?</div><div> </div><div>I will be having mine detailed and sealed with one of the ceramic options in a few weeks.
