Another job done - steering wheel + buttons

My list of things to do to my recently bought 2013 V8S cabriolet is rapidly reducing.
Mechanically it now seems sorted, cosmetically the car is looking very sharp and in the last couple of weeks have retrimmed the steering wheel and replaced the hard to operate (and sticky) buttons with the more recent raised design .... both are so much nicer than the originals and well worth doing.

If you are considering retrimming your steering wheel just do it, I went with Royal Steering Wheels who managed to match the oe red thread and delighted with the results. The buttons were bought on ebay and was easy to replace the originals, I now have buttons that work reliably!

Only consequence from the wheel change is that after disconnecting the battery I can't get the one touch up window to work on the passenger side despite trying several different approaches to "reset". I think this relates to a short lived issue with the roof as I suspect the roof didn't realise the position of the windows but for whatever reason the roof started working again.

Anybody else done stuff on their V8 that is worthy of a mention for consideration for me to do?

Hi, do you mind if I ask how much the retrim was and what the part number for the switches were? Im looking at doing the same myself.

Retrim was around £200 delivered back to me, elapsed time was 2 weeks.
I bought the buttons off ebay, ironically I only used the plastic front of each unit (i.e. keep using the existing circuit board) and didn't use all of the new buttons! For example my car doesn't have a heated steering wheel nor a speak button, has ASL not LIM so replaced part of the new button unit with individual buttons from the old one.

Sounds complex, it isn't. I bought OE button clusters (circa £75 each) but I suspect you could probably use some chinese copies as it is only the plastic fronts you will keep, you don't need the new electronics.

There are some steering wheels online which already include the new buttons, worth considering as well.

In fact, buy these

Very good deal.

To sort windows, just done it on mine as also new delivery from Royal Steering.....very happy.

Engine on...
Lower window all the way, release button and down again 2 more times you will hear it click, this will register the lowest point.
Raise window all the way closed, release button and up again 2 more times you will hear it click, this will register the highest point . That's it

Obviously test down then up.....

Hope this helps

^ thanks for that, it worked :)
I had been trying something similar but didn't have the engine on, just ignition turned on.
