Another area to check for corosion

Hi Guys
Might be just my Vehicle
As I've stated this car is no Garage queen and has covered 45K in all weathers so might be a one off.
Pictures below show what was described to me as a power stud found at the back of the front wheel arch drivers side (UK).
Rust discolouration was seen running down the known poor paint, this originated from a plastic protective cover with a couple of cables passing through.
On inspection you can see water has made it through the less than adequate sponge seal. The mild steel stud/ nut have quite badly corroded and needed replacing.
Not available from Jag as a separate part from the wiring loom, A new stud has been made, greased and reassembled with a new seal and some prep to the paint.
Easy to check next time your washing the car if you turn your wheel hard right.
Given that these cars are voltage sensitive, not that I had any voltage problems can't be helping that the contacts are so wet.

This was discovered during a recent routine service.
Pictures are not brilliant they're from Tom Lenthall's Ltd Face book page.20190321_225835.jpg20190302_143623.jpg20190302_143647.jpg20190302_143639.jpg

Good you reported this. Looks like a potential electronical problem with loss of earth contact/floating earth. It looks like they made a pigsmess out of a collection of different metals linked up, working together like an electrolytic cell [ battery], resulting in severe corrosion.
The price to pay for a mereley aluminium body work, which is far more resistant then piggiron..

Hmm - took a look yesterday when I was swapping over to the summer tyres again and couldn't find this - even looked behind the wheel arch liner.

Is it just me - anyone else found it?

Hmm not all F Types are the same, should have guessed it would be mine!

It’ll be interesting to find out what variation between our two cars makes it necessary to fit this electrical connection in such a venerable place. Convertible/ Coupe, V6 or V8 model year?
If It hasn’t come to light before, is it the all wheel drive that’s made this necessary as it’s the most recent innovation. I’ve heard tell, AWD has the engine raised making the different bonnet necessary and a change to the configuration exhaust to get the transfer box in. Along with other variations I’m sure. If that’s the case is it just V8 models or just mine

I believe the boot is a different shape too. I've seen the Jaguar 7-piece F-type luggage set advertised as "not suitable for AWD".
