So had the amber engine light come on as I made my way along the freeway home on Thursday night. Didn't flash and didn't go into limp mode so made my way home. Next morning rang Jaguar Roadside Assist and they send out the RACV (similar to British AA) who tested and didn't really give me any clear indication but called a tow truck as under warranty. Went to nearest JLR dealer 30kms away and got told it would take a couple of weeks to look at as they are backed up and if it needs parts could be some time, but not to worry as I get a free 5 day loan car. Spoke with the manager and he was helpful and said that they would look at it Monday and if I need to extend the loan car and Jaguar Customer Care are difficult give him a call. Got the loan car (Range Rover Sport) after getting a taxi they paid for home. The Range Rover is nice if you like massive vehicles but far bigger than any I would like. Would prefer an Evoque if going down that path - but anyway it gave me wheels over the weekend. So saw on my app that the engine light now seemed to be off on the car so gave the service centre a call. They diagnosed the issue as two solenoids need replacing which they have in stock and so hopefully will do shortly before they re-test to see if actuators need replacing too. Hopefully not and I can get the car in the next day or so. Fingers crossed - never have had a problem with any other vehicle I have owned where I have had to get a part under warranty changed.
The other interesting thing was when I called the Jaguar Roadside they said my car was a 2017 F-Type and out of warranty. Not sure how that happened but have done the cheques with the dealer and definitely only 1.5 years old and still in warranty and MY19.5. The service I got done also matched with my car and the car is clearly the MY19.5 due to the design and extras. Seems the records at Jaguar Roadside aren't always correct and the dealer called them to set it straight.
