Android Auto and Apple carplay. Not for all recent F-Types.

I have it on my BMW (Paid £235) and i find it really useful to utilise for Nav and BBC iplayer control as well as Spotify.

When my MY18 F Type is in for service I will be getting the upgrade. If its useful on the BMW, then on the naff entertainment system on the Jag is will be brilliant.

Just my opinion.

It’s the 8 inch with the buttons down the side. Its the Pro with Meridian surround, 4G SIM and WiFi hotspot.

Hopefully they will upgrade it.

Does anyone know what the charge will be, presumably it’s not free?

Thanks
Andrew

I am almost certain that it can only be installed on the later screens

Hi.

Just browsing TOPix with the VIN for a March 2017 (first of the 18MY) F-Type that I'm interested in and found that the vehicle software has recently been updated to version J9D3-19C204-BJ which contains the Smartphone pack that would then need activating for Android Auto / Apple Carplay. So far so good for 18MY F-Type's but then I noticed

Smartphone park will be available for customer vehicles that have the following:
Equipped with InControl© Touch Pro and 10.2-inch touchscreen or duel screens.

Obviously 18MY has the 8-inch screen so now it's not looking so good. I have asked the dealer to see if they can confirm if the Smartphone pack can be activated on this early 18MY.

Just thought I'd share.

Edit - I'm in the UK

"duel screens" sounds a bit frightening - are they fitted to cars intended for fencing fanatics?

Just had my MY2018 F-Type ICTP with an 8" screen updated with software version S18C, and now has an 'Software Update' button for updates over the 4G. No obvious sign of Android Auto though (not sure where it would appear?). A search of Jaguar sites shows the duel screens are fitted to other models such as Range Rovers. Not too worried about missing out on Android Auto personally.

Jason B what difference have you noticed with the new software? Is it better than before in any specific way?

Also, did you ask for Smart Phone pack to be activated?

Do you still have a Spotify app offered?

With the 18C software, it looks the same when starting up. I was having a few occasional problems such as 4G not connecting for the Live features, media player with a USB stick kept getting tracks and track info mixed up and the reverse camera didn't always appear. I've only done a couple of short trips since the update, but the media player initially has been Ok, 4G has connected everytime. The reversing camera is much better, you now get both the camera picture and the parking sensor display on a split screen rather than one or the other. There is the ability for the media software to be updated via 4G now.
I didn't request the SmartPhone pack as I wasn't aware of if it. Spotify is available via Jaguar Apps on Android, but I don't subscribe to Spotify, so can't tell if it works.

Has anyone with the 8” screen ICTP managed to get the Smartphone Pack?
Is there any aftermarket solution for adding CarPlay/android auto to the existing 8” ICTP system?

Eventually, screens, this Play and that Play, wifi, soft/hardspots will take over the car interior and there will be no room for the wheel anymore ;-)

My other day to day is a Vivaro van. I recently changed the infotainment system for a Double din Android £199 Chinese unit. This is android 8.1 & has everything one could want in gadgets. Fitted it 5 months ago. 1st month was great & played around with all the functions. Now I get in van & listen to my music & drive. We had the 10" head unit in the 2017mMY Evoque we had with all the gadgets & same again . It's what you ain't got that you want, until you have it.

I can understand why you'd need the distractions in a van and an Evoque, but in an F-Type? C'mon! ;)

Sorry to bring back an old thread but thought it better than starting a new one.

Can a MY19 (September 18) with 10" screen get the smartphone pack? I've got my eye on a car and would love it to be compatible. I know I can ask the retailer but info from this forum is generally more reliable :)

I'm in the UK.

Hopefully if you PM simpleR your reg he can help.
There is/was an ongoing campaign to bring all Jaguars with the Pro systems (back to around 2016 on some models) up to date with the smartphone pack and then Carplay/Android auto.
Under no circumstances pay for this if you are eligible as previously they were stinging people £200 for the smartphone pack.
The fact you have the 10" screen sounds hopeful as that should be the Pro system.

I took my my18 in for the hn251 software update and was told that there were issues with the update blowing fuses and jaguar had stopped performing the update. Not told if temporary or final
