Hi I am so torn as what car to get! I have gone from wanting a r8 2010 ish v10 to Bentley new shapes to Aston martin etc.

I think the Jag is a amazing car the newest out of all the options I have, Just wanted owners opinions I am looking at a 2015 f type r awd.

Do you think the price for these cars are holding ? I have read a lot on google searches and 2 years ago the question of price was not far off what they seem to be selling for today.PX prices I would suspect would be low?

Any advice would be fantastic

A very lost car enthusiast :(

cant comment about the Bentley except to say that its a saloon car and therefore not of interest.

there is a big difference between the handling of the R8 and both the F and the aston. The latter two are fron engined cars and to me feel quite heavy round bends. They just dont have the flickable go cart feel of a mid engined car and TBH I miss that. I am sure that they will corner every bit as fast on the same rubber, but in my experience owning an F after a fezza, you just dont feel you can dive into the corners in the same way.+

The Aston, any Aston is more special. The R8 is very competent but it is a VW product after all. So likely to be more reliable but with an ordinary interior by comparison. Likely this will get posters on here wound up, but the F type simply isnt the same class of car as either R8 or Aston. In running cost terms its likely much the most sensible and practical option.

Howard thank you for the reply :)

Bentley isn't something I would prob go for tbh but its in the price bracket etc The R8 was my first choice but the fact its 8 years old now is really putting me off :( V8/v10 well gotta be a v10 really.Running costs on them mmm well its 8 years old, Audi extended warranty full cover is 2k the jag is about £800, also the Jag im looking at still has 8 months left. I think the struggle of age and toys, in my mind the Jag is the nicer place to be with toys and comfort keyless etc also think it will be the more fun car to drive. The car for me is a sunny day car.I am really struggling :(

So are you looking at about 50k? I would say that any Aston at that money will be older than an Ftype and if we ae talking Vantage then although they are lovely and all that, they are pretty old tech now (designed in about 2004 iirc). With an Ftype you will get more car for your cash. I suspect a three year old car will depreciate a lot more slowly (I say suspect, I mean I bloody hope!).

Hey Davidd

Yes around that mark, I think the Jag is the best buy for this money IMO.Totally agree old cars and worry of breaking etc its not what I need. The drama of the F type just sells it for me I think. As for depreciation I know it will lose value but I think it will outway as I would prob spend as much as I would lose in value on a older car fixing things! Perhaps more!!

So look forward to having a great car for the summer :)

Hi,
Not sure I can comment on the Bentley and R8... beyond those already posted.
Just an observation. I have a 2015 V8 AWD and the cost of ownership (depreciation apart) has been pretty reasonable. Tyres, servicing etc seem pretty reasonable.
But finances aside... you mentioned the possibility of an Aston. Friend of mine has a Vanquish (5 years old) and whilst I agree the interior finish and layout is possibly more impressive and the whole Aston experience more exclusive, he was seriously impressed with the FType V8.. He has driven both and is in the market to move to the F Type. Costs of ownership are a lot less (if you think a Jag is expensive to service try an Aston) but the performance and "experience" pretty comparable - his words not mine.
So you take your pick I guess.
Only thing I will say is that owning an F Type is great fun and you just don't see that many on the road.
Again I am biased.. but an F Type does seem to command some road presence in a way that Bentleys and R8s may not. Hope this is of some help.
End of the day .. nice problem to solve I guess !

The only issue with the other cars you mention is that while age will have brought the buying price down through depreciation, it doesn't do anything for the cost of parts or repairs. They will still be in proportion to the original value of the car and therefore quite horrendous.
I read or heard something the other day about someone who had bought an older Lamborghini at a bargain price then received an estimate a service and what must have been extensive additional work that came to just under £20K.
So for me, the age is also very relevant to a decision like this.

I love my F-Type R Coupe but I must admit when it comes to "road presence" the Bentley wins hands down! I have in the past owned 3 Bentley motor cars and I can tell you from personal experience nothing comes close to making a statement, be that good or bad.

The F-Type is a great looking car but it is almost invisible compared to a Bentley in the prestige stakes.

Thanks for the comments and feedback, I am pretty set for the F type!! just have to come to a deal on one.I have made 2 offers today on 2 cars just waiting for them to get back to me.I know they prob didn't like my offer :), seems most places want to push finance I just want to outright buy not mess around.

One thing I did want to ask if anyone had experience with steering wheels? One of the cars I am looking at has the round wheel and really wanted the flat bottom pref alcantara, are these expensive items? easy to fit yourself?
