Quick question... <br /><br />Are the active exhausts a software generated noise? <br />Genuine overrun, exhaust tuning?<br />Or a combination of the two? <br /><br />Reason I ask is that I run the active exhausts everyday (and guilty of overdoing it) and wonder if I could damage or wear out the exhausts system? <br />OR<br />is it ok to keep doing if it is just software and it will not damage the exhaust system? <br /><br />Jagman

Hi Jagman<div> </div><div>it's mechanical - there is a motorised valve that opens up to effectively make the exhausts "straight through". When the valve is closed the exhaust gases are forced through extra silencing chambers.</div><div> </div><div>so I guess the motor will wear out eventually, but the way I look at it, if you exercise the motor frequently you'll minimise the risk of the valve sticking in a shut position <img src="http://www.ftypeforums.co.uk/images/converted_files/smileys/smiley2.gif" border="0" alt="Wink" title="Wink" /></div>

No, you won't damage anything. The engine would far prefer to be on something more free flowing than a quiet restrictive system anyway.<div><br><div>The acoustics are fixed, the internals are a tuned work of art:</div><div><img src="http://www.ftypeforums.co.uk/images/converted_files/uploads/332/12441_17243.jpg" height="700" width="466" border="0" /><br></div><div><br></div><div><br></div><div>The overunn pops and crackles are 'induced' by the ECU. The fuelling calibrations are altered, in other words, it leans the mixture a tad. Thanks for the detailed explanations guys and the in depth information Tel. <br />I didn't know the system was that sophisticated! <br /><br />99% goes over my (non mechanical) head but it's good to know I can keep making a racquet without having to worry about it
