Hi

My V6-s is coming up to being 3 years old , so its time for the service.

Looking at the service plan on the Jaguar website, their is absolute no difference between what is done on the 12 month service , than what is done on the month 36 service

So im confused why all my local dealers are quoting £400 - £420 when the 1st year service is £250-£299.. apparently its an "interim service not a minor service"

Month 12 , and month 36 state the same
-Renew engine oil and filter
-Check/top-up brake fluid levels
-Check/top-up coolant levels
-Check/top-up windscreen washer reservoir
-Check/top-up power steering fluid level

Is their any hidden extras that get done on month 36.. or am i paying £400 to get an oil/filer change done and the critical "stamp on the service record"

Steve

The spark plugs are month 24

I understood it was

month 12 minor
month 24 major (the £600 spark plug change)
month 36 minor

But month 36 is being described now as an "interim service" with the identical work / parts as month 12

Steve

The v6s no longer requires spark plug change at 24 months as Jaguar have recently ammened this requirement.

The v6s no longer requires spark plug change at 24 months as Jaguar have recently ammened this requirement.

thats good to know
Plugs at 24 months ... was this mileage related at all or simply a cash cow for Jaguar and the parts supplier?

What is the ammendment please?

I enquired about my 2016 V6 and was told (by Jag CRC) it's Year 5. You can check yourself on Topix (can't remember if this part requires a subscription or not)...there's an option to look at the service schedule for your vehicle and it's only year 5 that lists the spark plug requirement.

Pretty sure that'll apply to all V6's as they're all the same.

All that being said, Steveo I don't understand why you're being stiffed more for the 3rd year service, they look identical from the stuff I downloaded from Topix.

I also found that the service checksheets are available on the online service history under "HomeMy VehiclesService Information" (Access is free of charge) => https://osh.jaguar.com[/QUOTE:tunvagel]

Thanx for this link, learn something new everyday ... have applied for an access code.

Great post Senninha

Ive sent a polite but to the point email to both my local dealers asking why the interim service is £100 more than the minor service even though the details of work required is identical

Maybe their is additional work carried out that isn't stated on the Jaguar website , in which case I will apologise in advance to them , But Paying £420 to get the oil & filter changed and my windscreen washer bottle filled seems excessive to me when i can probably get the same work done at a good independent for half that

Relax. I have just paid slightly over £1000 for oil and filter change and check round on my F430. Oil alone was £175

Where is the smiley for bend over and brace yourself?
