I may have made a rash decision.

I have had the 2 litre out on test drive and, while i can't fault it is nippy when pushed, I can't help feeling it needs its neck wrung to get the performance out of it. The silly thing is, I am buying an F Type as my daily driver but have just paid a deposit on a 575 in grey from Pentland Jaguar.

Is this going to end up causing me problems or do i just man up and accept that I will be more acquainted with petrol stations from now on?

It is a bloody nice car........

It depends on what your typical journey is like. If you are not stopping and starting lots and mainly just going with the traffic flow and not using much of the performance to then you should see upper 20's average mpg.

On the latest tank of fuel I'm averaging 26.7 mpg, being a mixture of travelling with the traffic and quite a bit of full on loud pedal action. It would be a bit more frugal if I was commuting in it.

See, it is an economy car! Good decision 👍.

Life's too short. Go for it.

I filled up mine today for the 1st time in a while. £1.47 per litre. £99 in total. I've never spent that much in petrol before. Do I care. Not really.

So, ever the rash decision maker, the car is now bought................

I just need to insure it and i pick it up on Tuesday at lunchtime

Eeek! Fuel is expensive at the moment. You'd think they'd give you a free cream egg or something if you spend more than £100. Or shower you with rose petals on the way to the till. Then again it is still cheaper than wine or beer and more fun per £ if you have an f type.

Welcome to the club. Use the time wisely to tone up your grin muscles ....

Thanks for the comments everyone.

I was a little concerned with the rear wing looking a bit chav but then I can't do anything about it and it isn't that big up close. The only annoying thing is that the Jaguar badge is hidden underneath it so its strange that they still fit it there at all.

According to the garage, they now think it might be 12 months to get a new car from ordering. I can't believe its that bad. They are worried in case someone buys the new 450 Reims in the showroom because there isn't anything to replace it.

Ah, I hadn't spotted you have the fixed rear spoiler, I think it finishes the back of the car off nicely - I love mine! And no speed limit giveaways! ;)

No offence intended.

When you build online I thought it looked a lot more prominent but I quite like it with the colour combo.

I did swear off grey after my DB9 but that’s perhaps also because it was such a badly made car

You will be pleasantly surprised how frugal the v8s are. I regularly see early 30s on a run. Not that bad around town once warmed up either.

Looks lovely. Same colour as mine.

Looks lovely, congratulations. Re petrol station visits, would you rather put £99 in your Mondeo or your F-Type? No contest, methinks. Anyway, count smiles per gallon, not miles per gallon.

I was looking for someone else to comment this before I did, I’ve done a few test runs now in my 450 and I’m really surprised at the mpg on motorways and in traffic. Obviously didn’t buy a V8 for economy but it’s a nice bonus. E.g. Sunday got a very early start to sail down to Dorset, then a blast round the Jurassic coast, then really heavy traffic all the back, and still got 29. That’s better than my old Mk 2 Focus ST with the 2.5 turbo. The V8 is an amazing engine. Shell V Power 99 btw

I have just spent 2 hours driving back from the dealer the long way. What a car!

Handover was a great piece of show, the red box with the keys and hand written thank you note was a nice touch too.

The brutal acceleration though, just wow
