Hi All,

Would love to know your plans for 2018 in both car care/mods & trips, meets, days out?

Car still in storage but pick up last day of Feb. Absolutely itching to get back in it. Was dreading putting it away but tbh quite enjoyed the self-imposed exile & the anticipation of the warmer, lighter months ahead.

My mods this year are low key due to still within warranty. Having the cyclones taken off & completely stripped & repainted & laquered. Want them looking mint, even the barrels. Keeping them OEM silver but may ask for a bit of extra polish! New OEM Pirelli all round, I don’t drive fast enough to warrant anything else. Also having the brake calipers painted. Have thought about colours. Not yellow, trying to look like carbon. Did consider White, keeping clean! Black, would keep with theme? Favourite at moment is a colour called Candy Apple Red, which is very popular. I think it’ll match the seat belts 😄 & contrast from black & white.

Work will be done by BCS in Long Eaton. Formerly known as Brake Calipers Specialists but are moving into wheels too.

Working in Derby today so popped into H A Fox. Booked my MOT with them for April & a courtesy car 😄 Bit worried about front end & number plate. Can see them picking up on it if there’s nothing else flagging up. Will cross that bridge when & if 🤔

Trips out & meets. Plenty of Breakfast Clubs. Planning on attending Woodhall Spa car show on Sunday 22nd April. I’m joining the F-Type EC so should be a few attending together.

Look forward to meeting everyone again & those who have recently purchased.

Hope it’s a good year for all 👍

From the same neck of the woods then.
H.A. Fox Derby is also my local dealer.

I intend to get to a couple of breakfast clubs but since picking up in November I havent even had time to wash it so it all depends on that really. Yes I know thats shocking but its my daily drive and yes it is ditched. Properly ditched although you can just about still read the number plates.

I did the funball rally in 2016 and although it was very good we have planned a route for this Sept, nearly the same but cutting out some of the longer days and not heading to Venice but spending a few days at Lake Garda before heading to Monza F1 and then home. So Reims, Basal through the Swiss passes again, Lake Garda etc. We have a route which covers all those fantastic passes you see on Top Gear etc. Happy to share a copy and it also has hotel suggestions and costs of the entire trip including euro tunnel, vignette and even fuel! Etc

No mods planned.

Car is currently sat in the garage under SORN with a plan to scratch my itch in March, but could be sooner.

Planned mods: Replace the cill treadplates for Union Jack ones; Fit smaller s/c pulley and re-map; possibly Michelin tyres; possible fixed rear wing if I can find one; plus one other.

Will do at least one Breakfast Club meet, a couple or so trackdays but will need to decide whether to use F Type or Westfield.

One week trip to France which could be extended because simpleR's itinerary sounds so appealing :)

I thought I might give mine a wash at some point.

It's first le mans trip this year which I'm really looking forward to.

Roads are still very salty and muddy around my neck of the woods, but if things improve I will get mine back on the road either 1st March or April.

Plan to do at least one Breakfast Club meet.

I'd love to see your route - we are planning something down there this year so always happy to see good routes!

Here is our plan....... Hope it all makes sense.
I will post 1 day at a time as I cannot get the formatting to work! Lack of IT skills. Sorry.

The plan would be to get all motorway driving out of the way on day 1 and then 2 days of mountain passes in Switzerland before spending Friday night, all day Saturday and Saturday night at Lake Garda before heading to Monza on Sunday morning for the F1. There is also an option for heading to the ring on the Monday if it is open as a tourist evening.

Including fuel, euro tunnel there and back, Vignette, car parking, good hotels, F1 tickets for Sunday race in the main grandstand, toboggan run, breakfast, lunch and dinner including a generous beer allowance AND £40 per person for an event at Lake Garda it is coming out at approx. £1,050 per person. There are of course options for much cheaper accommodation but for the purpose of pricing we have included hotels which include breakfast, car parking and swimming pool at lake garda all in city centre locations.

Overview and costs:

No problem, we have all the detailed maps of each day as well. So if you think your running behind you can take a short stint of motorway and miss a mountain pass to catch up or if you've had enough and want a long lunch or need beer it shows the quickest way to get off the mountain and on the motorway to get to the hotel.

The reason I say this is from doing the funball, the mountain pass days are breakfast at 8am and try and leave by 9am and you get to the hotel for around 6pm if you don't hang around. What actually happens is you keep stopping for the wonderful views and end up running late!

Here are some pics from last year I took. Hope it inspires a few F-Types to get out of storage and chew up some rear tyres on some hairpins. All the pictures are from the passes covered in the map.

Cheers all

Perhaps (if I'm allowed) I would come from north Germany to Basel and spend some days with you. It really looks interesting!

Something similar - got the first 2 weeks of June off and will be heading down through France and into Switzerland, stopping just south of Luzern on the first day to get some mileage in before an easier second day down into Italy.
My convertible is booked on the tunnel as a high vehicle so i get to load with the roof box cars and vans and not have to risk the alloys driving up to the upper deck.
Will be staying in 3 places and having little trips out each day, so a break from driving. Also means we can catch the local train into bigger cities and enjoy a nice time without worrying about parking, etc.
Still some detailed planning to do but already looking forward to the adventure.
