2017 Type R 1st MOT

That insurance seems steep. Mine is under £500, fully comp, business usage 10k miles per year.
I could have got it cheaper form LV but needed to go with admiral as we have three cars and the overall figure was lower with them.

The form we got from the council last year, had the mention on the first 3 lines of txt. Please be aware we will contact your insurance company & make them aware that you have had a claim on your vehicle. I wish I still had it to show. It went in the bin. That was Leeds city council. The pothole in question was on the M1 motorway exit at Garforth. Two days later it was fixed. !!!. Also I mentioned this to Richard at Performance wheels pic is of his wheel. He said the same. They have a lot of customers with performance cars. They have all said the same about Leeds city council. Not sure about different councils .I was in a position were I dare not take the risk. I have 4 vehicles. Once the ins Co get a whiff they put your rate up.

I am still waiting for Lancaster to get back to me with an answer for renewal. Will post when I get it sorted out.

Hi Steve, if the damage happened when driving on the motorway the local council won’t be responsible. Motorways are maintained by Highways England and the claim for compensation should be against them. I think they have a link on their website. If you still have photos and bill for repairs you may still be able to claim the costs back, up to 6 years ago. I’ve had this in the past, it’s a pain but I think that’s just to put people off.

It was on a normal A road in Leeds where the tyre went last week. The one last year was on an A road roundabout above the M1 motorway, not on it. Anyway I got a call from Lancaster insurance this morning saying they would not Insure the Jag again as the cheapest quote I rejected. Went on go compare site & got it for £703 with Tesco. The cheapest I could find. I guess some of you guys that are getting super cheap insurance have some details that differ to mine. Post code being 1. Age being another. They tell me when you become an old codger your premiums go up. Also I only have 4 years No claims for that vehicle, due to the fact I have different vehicles insured at once. Van, bike, Fiesta, Jag.

Sorry Steve I misread your post, my tyre (and wheel) got destroyed on the roundabout over the M27 just before the on-ramp started and the council refused to have anything to do with it and told me it was Highways England’s responsibility.

As for insurance, I have quotes that vary hugely from £450 to over £1000 for a P380 so have no idea how the company’s weigh the different factors when calculating premiums, probably have some highly complicated algorithms! In Qatar the rates are fixed by the government and you pay based on the type of car (SUV, saloon etc) and the number of cylinders the engine has! A 4 cylinder 4 x 4 costs less than £100 with no no claims and a V8 less than £200.

good price GusA, mine is £246 for the year , 10000 miles parked in my garage, protected etc, so quite happy with that.

That’s a great price. I read on here somewhere that insurers charge more if you garage your car as more damage happens going in/out and stuff falling on them etc!

I don’t always go with the cheapest quote though as I check their reviews first - cheap insurance is no use if they don’t look after you if you need to claim.
