Windscreen Wipers, How to change ?

I recently became the owner of a 2015 F-Type V6S AWD.

It looks like the previous owner has done a reasonable job of looking after it and the dealer sorted out a couple of niggles I found whilst giving it a good fettle.

The wiper blades looked like they has seen better days so I bought a pair of Bosch Aerotwins, the problem is, I haven't been able to get the old wiper blades off. There are some metal tabs near the arm hinge which stop the arms lifting far enough off the glass to allow the removal of the blade itself.

Has anybody changed their wiper blades, and if so how did you do it ?

Any help would be much appreciated.

John

It has something to do with lifting the black tab I have just given mine a bit of a play but they don't look like they want to move to much.

The arms are unlike any other I have seen as they prevent the blades from lifting backwards.

When you do find a fix perhaps you should set up a folder called Haynes Manual and post it there.

I did wonder about those tabs. I had a broddle about with a wide bladed screwdriver, but like you, found that they didn't want to move much and I was a bit concerned that if I exerted too much pressure/leverage of the part it might break and leave me a worse state.

Good suggestion about the Haynes Manual folder

I don't want to be beaten by something as simple as changing a wiper blade but I might have to eat humble pie and ring the dealer.

John
Done it.

As shown in 'Tall dads' photo above, the black tab is indeed the key to it all.

The tab is quite a tight fit but reasonably robust, by inserting a screwdriver blade between the tab and the wiper arm hook, then gently but firmly levering the tab, it pops up and the wiper blade can then be removed in the usual fashion.

The replacement blades I used, Bosch Aerotwins, were a little fiddly to put on, but the whole process only took about 5 mins for both blades.

Easy when you know how

Many, many thanks 'Tall dad' for your help.

John
