Which V8 F Type is best

Hi folks
Now sold my TVR and put a deposit down on a 2021 P575 R, which I pick up in a weeks time. I was really pleased with the car when I tested it but found it a little quite even with the exhaust valve switched on. Does anyone know what exhaust mod is best to get it sounding more like a throbbing V8, I don’t want it too loud but it needs to be more noticeable?

This has always been my issue with the car (2014 V8S), a complete lack of presence at tick over and low revs, I had a straight through Tamora previously so was used to 95 - 100dB on tickover, 125+ at full tilt

Thus far I’ve had Modstock do their basic thing whatever that was (a secret apparently), good guys, but if I’m honest feels like a waste of £400 as I can’t tell the difference from the original.

Paying £5k for a decent after market system such as Supersprint is a non-starter for me, so sports cats could be the next option for me

Congratulations 🤗 I too have one of those and ❤️ it. It is quiet at low revs in Dynamic or Normal modes because of the exhaust software updates probably to keep it road legal. Your dealer will have access to TOPIx to see if yours has had the updates. As mickjaguar hints below, Fuse 15 under the bonnet is the answer. I have tested it as have others and makes a big difference as the valves then stay open all the time. I did put it back in for the MOT and haven’t taken it out again but will do for the run to the British Motor Museum on the 18th May.

These 'updates' came about around late 2018 when the european drive by noise regulations lowered decibel limits. Software patches H239 were released to dealers to update older cars (although some dealers haven't applied them routinely as they cannot be reversed).

Cars built after this date have the OPF (particulate filters) as part of the catalysts, which make the exhaust quieter still. As well as having different valve behaviour programmed.

Removing fuse 15 is the first thing to try on the later OPF cars. (It doesn't work on the P300 and will throw errors or go into limp mode. There are a few reports of this happening on V engines but rare). Very recent cars need to have their valves set open before the fuse is removed, i.e. press the button before turning the car off first.

Some people find it very boomy at low revs when constantly under load.. If this is the case, just left paddle click down one or two gears and raise the revs slightly when driving up a long hill.

Interesting comments thanks all. I don’t think I’ll do any exhaust mods just yet, apart from maybe removing fuse 15 does, the car comes with a 12 month full JLR warranty so I don’t want to do anything to jeopardise that.
