Whats This?

Hi All,
I was putting a new set of rubber floor mats into my new to me F-Type and noticed a black plastic rectangular box with a small ariel sticking out of it, its not secured by any screws, just a cable tie. Just wondering if its something aftermarket installed for a previous owner?
Its in the passenger footwell just above the kick panel on the left.

That black rod on the side looks like some type of antenna. I am guessing it could be a tracker of some kind.
 
Hard to see exactly but it looks similar to something along the lines of a UAD carplay/android auto adapter (it's not a UAD but might be another brand). The UAD box had a similar antenna sticking out the side.

Otherwise I'd lean towards tracker potentially.
 
The first hits from Google showed up as "Mercedes Benz tracker", but it also appears under Nissan and others, so it's quite likely a vehicle tracking device. Have you got any way of contacting the old owner to see if the subscription for it can be transferred?

EDIT: Also, best remove the 2nd image, or edit it to remove the IMEI number

Looks like it's a tracker. This is a privacy concern as the previous owner may still be able to access it.

If you can't contact the previous owner, I'd get it removed.
 
As its seems to be a non factory addition i think best to remove it, previous owner didnt install it as hes left me with remaining subscription of the in controll factroy tracker. It was a JLR managment vehichle for the first 7,000 miles so possibly that was when it was installed. OE numberplate usually a tell tail.

Thanks for all the input. Just didnt want to unplug it and find the car got upset with me and lit the dash up with lights :shock:
