Used F-type decision: 2019 R or 2022 / 2024 P450?

Hey folks, am new here to the forum and looking forward to being an F-type owner. As a first time buyer for any type of sports car, I am wondering if the forum could give some guidance on which of these options one should go for:
1) 2019 R with 14,000 miles - can get 2 years warranty; insurance is £1300 ~ £53k
2) 2022 P450 with 9,000 miles - can get 3 years warranty; insurance is £2600 ~ £50k
3) 2024 P450 with < 100 miles - can get 3 years warranty; insurance is £1400 ~ £61k

There does not seem to be much room for negotiation - though any inputs welcome.

P.S am new to the UK hence the insurance values are anyways on the higher end.

Hey, good choice to go for F type welcome to the group 😊
I don’t really understand why there is such a difference in insurance cost between the 2022 P450 and the 2024 P450 basically same car 2022 more expensive to insure than 2024 🤷🏻‍♂️ the 2024 car will be 75 edition or 75 plus edition so maybe few extras as standard over the 2022 car both 450bhp the 2019 f type will be 550+Bhp
As for negotiation, if car is sold by dealer tends not to be much wiggle room, can look for extras as opposed to money discount….. service if due soon, wheel cover, paint protection tank of fuel
Good luck post update on how you get on

thanks billy. so the insurance difference seems because of some new tracking tech in the 2024 p450s. Almost every 2021/22 450 is north of 2300 for me. curious if people feel the R is the ultimate one to get.

I'm biased, obviously, so won't tell you which is the ultimate F-Type! The thing to do is test drive a few (or a lot!) and decide which suits you and your desires best. If nothing else, you'll have some fun!

Good luck finding the one with your name on it, and we'll look forward to welcoming you to the club!

taking a hint from the glacier white R and leaning towards the R 😅 - I just feel they wont make any with that sound and power anymore hence last chance to get them.

I wouldn’t swap my R :D

Wonder if they upgraded the remote locking system or something on later p450s.

I was in the same position in the year after selling my V6S a few years earlier and test drove different variants. I ended up with the P450 as I wanted RWD and the more modern front end, dash & tech. I love all F-Type's, but the pre-facelift is starting to look a little dated (not to mention the headlight issue) and the V8R got the worst front bumper in the range which is hard to love. I acknowledge you do lose some volume, but with fuse 15 removed it still sounds great.

With that said, it would be crazy to pay a premium on the insurance, that's madness. Don't under estimate the value of warranty with Jaguar ownership (of course you can renew it yourself)

As above, try both and see what you think. Other than the outright power and AWD, the rest is is subjective.

I would hazard a guess that the '24 car has the optional tracker system fitted. For such a large insurance deduction, it's a no-brainer to look at fitting an after-market tracker to the '22 car for a few hundred quid (or the Ghost Immobiliser)

Ghost is the way to go imo £499 fitted

Be careful, whilst it makes sense from a security\insurance perspective, my friend had one fitted to his Range Rover, he then started having intermittent starting issues 3 months later and Land Rover wouldn't even entertain investigating under warranty since the car had been "modified". PLus with the install cost and subscription, you have to ask does it really make sense.

use a faraday box\pouch and garage the car if that's an option.

Thank you so much everyone. This R I am looking at is the facelifted one from 2019 so looks exactly like the 2024 + also has AWD. Really close to going for it. 🤞
