Quick question - how many miles are F Type owners getting out of their tyres before they need changing?

With many F Types seemingly used only as weekend cars I wouldn't be surprised if some tyres get replaced based on age rather than tread depth.

Just curious to know.

It depends on how the car is driven to some extent.

When I had my V6 a lot of my miles were just rolling along on A roads in the normal traffic flow, so the rears had done 22,000 when changed.

Although they were down to the legal limit at that point and it was late summer. Winter would've needed them changing maybe 4000+ miles earlier.

I've never got more than about 10,000 miles out of any of the 4 Jags I've had. And I don't drive like a nutter. I did get 63,000 out of the rears on my company Cavalier (and 5 sets of fronts in that time!).

Tyre wear is bound to be affected by engine size and axel traction configuration. After 3,000 spirited miles, I lost 0.5mm at the front and 1.5mm at the rear roughly meaning I may look to replace those at the rear every 12K miles or 2 years. The front tyres might last at least twice as long.

I’ve noticed Pirelli’s are notorious for showing cracks in the tread grooves, even after only three years.
Tyre fitters must love them.
Other than that, I can’t find much wrong with them; they’ve been fitted as OE to several cars I’ve owned over many years (Jag, and non-Jags).

Good shout. I'll keep an eye on mine for cracks as they've just turned 3 but I guess the rear tyres will be replaced in the next couple of months anyway. And in my experience, cracks tend to happened to tyres that don't run enough. So a low mileage tyre mounted on a car that is not driven often and left stationary for a long time might develop cracks.

That’s what I previously thought.
But my experience has proven differently 🫤

My car had new tyres when I bought it 11 March 2020 mileage 17,499 and I have now completed 40,040. I replace the fronts a year ago the rears 6 months ago, with Pirelli P Zero's all round.

A very considerate pilot!
