Trip MPG accuracy

Has anyone checked the accuracy of mpg readings? I ask this because my V6s coupe gave 40.8 mpg average on a 40mile motorway journey which was driven mostly at around 70-75mph on the cruise control
I am not sure if I should believe it?
(It seems too high).
 
If you steady, then 40.8 is achievable, my normal 125 mile drive which is a complete mixture of roads returns low to mid 30s everytime...
 
sounds about right to me..... i get high 30’s on a motorway run......... shite around town though 20- 22 mpg but hey it aint a mini !
 
Never achieved 40+mpg in my V6!
And my tyres last 15,000 miles plus LOL

Mine must be under estimating!!
 
Best I’ve ever managed is 35 on a mostly motorway trip with 50mph average speed sections. Normally mid 20’s but happy with that!
 
My V8 regularly shows 25 mpg during a run, but I calculate overall consumption by the tank, and that has varied from 12 to 20 mpg - cold starts and short journeys really kill the numbers. Mind you, my tank hasn't gone down much since 20th December 2020 for some reason .... :?
 
Over 23,780 miles average is 27.3mpg with a very best on a restricted speed M6 was 44.5.
On the motorway at 70 to 75 mph excess of 30 mpg is easily achievable.
Back tyres lasted over 18,000 miles, only changed them as was going to be possibly driving in snowy weather

Over 4 years mine has averaged 30.3 mpg. I have a spread sheet which calculates tank mpg and since ownership. I always fill in just for OCD interest😅.
My trip mpg shows 30.4 so pretty accurate.

Yeah, if we worried about fuel consumption we wouldn't be driving an F-Type! :lol:

Nor my main car which struggles to get 21mpg 😳😳.
Maybe I need an EV to balance it out🤔🤔 Nah!
