Hi everyone, I'm Ollie from near Southampton. This afternoon I'm heading to Harwoods Chichester to pick up my '14 V8R and I couldn't be more excited! I'll be trading in my '08 Audi S5 V8 which has been a beast for the last couple of years but a change in work circumstances mean that despite my age, I'm somehow able to afford one of my dream cars already. I'm so excited for the journey and ownership. It's a pretty heavily loaded Coupe with only 5000 on the clock (on a 14 plate!). I only went down to the dealership yesterday to have a drive of a S and hopefully an R to get a feel for them having never driven one, and walked away having made a deal! <div>More pics to follow. I look forward to getting to know you all :) </div><div><img src="http://www.ftypeforums.co.uk/images/converted_files/uploads/863/IMG_9734.jpg" height="525" width="700" border="0" /><br></div>

Yes indeed! Couldn't quite believe the spec. Hadn't seen it online and when I got to the dealership I couldn't believe how many boxes it ticked for the price! Off the top of my head:<div>Carbon Ceramics</div><div>Pano Roof</div><div>Carbon Wing Mirrors</div><div>Carbon Side Vents</div><div>Carbon Bonnet Louvres</div><div>Carbon Splitter (so much carbon!)</div><div>Two tone performance seats (jet/red) & red stitch</div><div>Power boot lid</div><div>Flat bottom steering wheel</div><div>Parking pack.</div><div>Original owner specc'd it very well indeed, apart from heated seats for some reason but i'll forgive him. He also went to the length of adding paint protection film to the front zones so I lucked out there. </div><div><br></div><div>Just called Harwoods and they said it'll be ready at 1700. Can't wait. </div><div><br></div><div><br></div><div><br></div>

Take it easy at first, that is a beast <img src="http://www.ftypeforums.co.uk/images/converted_files/smileys/smiley2.gif" border="0" alt="Wink" title="Wink" />

Welcome to the club, Ollie!<div><br></div><div>Coincidentally I made the same move from an S5 V8 to a 14 plate V8R Coupe earlier this year! </div><div><br></div><div>That 200 extra hp makes a massive difference <img src="http://www.ftypeforums.co.uk/images/converted_files/smileys/smiley36.gif" border="0" alt="LOL" title="LOL" /></div><div><br></div><div>Looks great, I know you'll enjoy it!!</div>

<div><br></div><div>It certainly does make quite the difference. It's also the first RWD car I've owned and taming that power through two wheels will certainly take some getting used to after a couple of years of Quattro! So far so good though. </div>

Hi all, long long overdue an update. Frustratingly after just 5 days of owning the car, I had to return to work at sea - where I am still and pining for a drive of that white animal sat at home. <div>That's not to say I didn't make the most of those 5 days... Picked it up on the Weds and on Friday I was driving to Amsterdam for a festival. A mate and I and all of our camping gear for the weekend, plus a wine store stock up in Calais and the F-type did not disappoint. Pretty boring roads, made massively exciting by getting used to the car meant smiles for about 450 miles each way!</div><div>It's absolutely intoxicating. The power, the noise, the looks and everything about these cars just makes me grin.</div><div>Should be home for a few weeks from mid-Nov and I can't wait to get behind the wheel again!</div><div>Then my thoughts are to drive her down to Italy as the vessel I work on will be laid up in Genoa for the winter so I figured rather than have the beast in storage at home, why not take it to work with me, have it next to the boat and take it for weekend ski trips/jollies on my time off? I might be a bit mad but it's too good an opportunity to pass up! </div>

<blockquote>Not mad at all :) We drove down to genoa a few weeks ago, its not as far as i feared!</blockquote>
<div><br></div><div>That's great - can I ask how you found the drive? Any recommended route or stop offs? I can't wait to get back behind the wheel!</div><div><br></div><div>The other drive I fancy doing is the Route Napoleon down to the South of France!</div>

Yep, down tours down through Eu as well, greta with the roof down!<div>The roads are a lot better quality and finish/state than here in the UK that's for sure.</div><div><br></div><div>BTW Ollie, welcome to the FTOC form yet a another sea farer, who will be back on the briny at the end of the month!</div>

We went what you might call the scenic route ;) lake lucerne, to the swissitalian passes (furka et al), to como, then down from there. We came back via cannes and route napoleon. Bit late in the year for it now, but when the passes are open i highly recommend it, was amazing!

Thanks Tel - what sort of vessels are you on? Enjoy the rest of your leave until you're back to it end of the month! <div><br></div><div>cjbh, I have been thinking about the time of year - going to have to take it carefully. On the way down I'll likely only take major auto routes as time will be a factor, but looking ahead to when I bring the car back to the UK - could be any time from Jan to March - I fancy planning more of a road trip with some decent stop-offs. </div><div><br>While in Genoa, I plan to take it for weekend ski trips when time off allows. Couldn't be more excited. </div>
