The Difference Between UK and US Ordering

So, as a matter of interest, having already ordered my, more or less, fully loaded US F-Type V8 S using the US web site builder, I decided to check out the UK version. As folks would say over here - "OMG!"<img src="http://www.ftypeforums.co.uk/images/converted_files/smileys/smiley3.gif" border="0" alt="Shocked" title="Shocked" />. The US car builder has many, many fewer options. Take a look. I was wondering why the UK specs that people were quoting looked so different to mine. All of the UK options are available here (modulo maintenance), but mostly only as parts of packs. And not all of the packs here are the same as in the UK. It is interesting to see the approach taken in different markets. I have to say, that the F-Type is much better value in the US, although the latest Corvette is scarily cheap for the amount of grins you're likely to get. <div><br></div><div>Cheers</div><div>Paul </div>

I did the same exercise between UK, French and Swiss websites.. Even discovered errors (in the French configurator active dynamic suspension was standard on the V6!!!). The interesting aspect is that the configurator allows camel carpet whereas the paper/pdf brochure does not!

My US dealer said you can't absolutely trust the configuration tool on the website(s). <br />The dealers can custom order a lot of things that cross markets, with factory approval. <br />I'd like to try to order a XF-Shootingbrake -- not offered in the USA, but my dealer said it was possible to order one if I was serious. Need US DOT lights on the body, could be a problem on a wagon. <br />If you see an option listed for another market you can probably order it - provided it won't be a regulatory or safety issue.

I thought you guys over the pond had a few better options when I specced my V8S, garage door opener, camel carpets, or maybe the Configurator was playing tricks on me?!<div><br></div><div><br></div><div>The Configurator, no matter which part of the world you are in is a loose guide at best unfortunately. It's riddled with errors ranging from adding components that are already included as standard fitment, not showing the graphical representation of the chosen parts to adding in parts pictorially that are not in the spec. <div><br></div><div>The best way is to get an idea in your head from the Configurator of the options you wish to have, and then thrash it out with your dealer. It is hard work to get it right on the nose.</div><div><br></div><div>The dealers' Configurator is slightly different from the generic .com, .co.uk ones as well, so you need to be detailed - dot the I's and cross the T's.</div><div><br></div><div>It's a handy tool to visualise the finished result to some degree though.</div></div>

The configurator on the .ch site had prices differing form those of the dealership price list! The configurator had the correct price<div> </div><div>Did you notice the graphical representation shows a carpet even when none are selected? Especially evident when selecting camel trims (camel carpets shown graphically) as only ebony carpets can be chosen as an option. </div><div> </div><div>what is standard in one country will not be in another. JLR still needs to improve their configurator to allows these commercial alternatives.... Or it it the importers who must be more careful in their configuration?</div><div> </div>
