SOS System Issues

Hi all

Just wondered if anyone knows how to remedy this issue, as per photo. This comes up persistently while driving despite pressing OK to clear the warning.

I know what the SOS functionality is for, but what do I need to do to permanently clear the warning? As far as I know everything is working as it should.

Several posts on here for that.

A quick scan suggest recharge main battery or replace tcu battery (I think - check those posts) or replace the module.

As above but I had this and it was an aerial issue. Change the TCU battery first cheap fix £25 diy job 2 min job. See if this clears the fault. I done this and thought it sorted it but sos came back on after a week or so.

After changing the TCU battery reset the sos button above your head in the centre hold down the blue lit button until it starts flashing that’s reset.

Given the age it shouldn't be the TCU battery. Mine also threw that error message a couple of days in a row the other year, and then it just went away. I'd say the first thing to do is to make sure that the main battery is well charged.

I think you have to wait until it flashes more slowly to fully reset - initially mine flashed quite quickly. About 15 seconds?

I've had this problem for well over a year. The main dealers have had the car in 3 times, replaced an antenae but I still keep getting the same message.
My car went in for service with an independant and the message went away for about 3 months, now its back again. I've tried resetting to no avail.

I have been having an intermittent fault with this SOS limited function for the last 2 months or so even after replacing the telematic battery...the last 2 weeks it has been constant on and my Sat Nav was showing me as being about 40 miles away in South Wales...
Today after the car has been nowhere for 2 days...i started it and the SOS function warning stayed off...my sat nav was still showing me in Cardiff although i live in Somerset.
I was driving for maybe 10-12 miles and the pointer started travelling back towards me across the Bristol channel...i almost collided with Weston-Super-Mare pier...!!
All this time the SOS warning was still not showing...as i got about a mile from home and stopped at a set of traffic lights...everything was back to normal...my position was corrected !!
Any idea what could have been the cause?

Mine is actually working fine now, my Ctek trickle charger showed an error light so I turned it off at the mains for a short while, turned it back on and reset it, waited until it had fully recharged and my the sos warning has not come back on, so didn’t need to change the tcu battery and has been fine over the last few weeks.

hi
I suspected it was something in the roof...i have ordered a new fin today.
Lots of used ones around @ 45 but im guessing they are not much better than my existing one.
Managed to buy a genuine Jaguar C2D55235 DX2319C089 for £83.
Looks like a fairly easy job,
Ive been out in the car today and everything is behaving, sat nav spot on and no 'sos limited' messages....
Maybe i just scared it

Again my Sat Nav wandered off across country without me or my car, and the Limited SOS Function warning was on more than off...
I was going to do it Sunday but i went to Swallows Open Day instead...awesome..
So today i decided to sort the antenna out...here are a few pictures of the process, a simple process that anyone of us could do.,,IMG_3489.JPG

If you are looking for a replacement that includes Navigation make sure you buy the correct antenna with 3 connections..(pink, Blue & Green)
IMG_3490.JPG
Lift the tail gate and at the very top there is a small removable flap that pops out to reveal 2 x 10mm nuts, same on both sides, IMG_3491.JPGIMG_3493.JPG

There are a further 2 x 10mm nuts on the underside leading edge of the tailgate
IMG_3495.JPG

Using trim tools..pry the panel up gently until 4 yellow press fittings releaseIMG_3496.JPGIMG_3498.JPG

You can now lift the panel onto its edge and release the 3 coloured fittings...
These have a small white slide on the side...pull the slide up till it clicks then press in to release itIMG_3500.JPG
Then undo the 2 x 10mm nuts holding the fin to the base plate. There is also a push on ground connector to be released.

The antenna comes in grey primer but its easy to swap it over with your existing one using the 8 x T9 screws on the fin baseplate.
My circuit boards were quite badly corroded and the Ground connecter was badly rustedIMG_3504.JPGIMG_3501.JPGIMG_3505.JPG

I cleaned all the rust of the grounds, used some 3M 3mm number plate tape to try and stop water ingress or at least reduce it,,,,
IMG_3508.JPG

Refit is a direct reverse...
My Limited SoS function warning has cleared and my sat nav has returned to base...

All in it was maybe a 60 - 95 minute job

There was some really gooey sticky sealant there...but the excess was easily cleaned off with WD40

All in it cost me £85 ,....

Mike
