Second service

Ringing round a few dealers about second service on a V6S some are saying plugs need changing. Fair enough, I will have serviced whatever is required. However one dealership said that there was recent change in that plugs do NOT need changing every other service (which is what adds £300 to the price).
Anybody know if this is fact or not?

Thanks

<edited><editID>Elementad</editID><editDate>2016-03-26 13:40:27</editDate></edited>

Another question is, does anyone know why it is only the v6s (380) that needs plugs and why both the v8 and the standard v6 (340) DONT need plugs.

Wish I could help but no idea, sorry....does seem rather strange as I thought the V6 and V6S were basically the same engine mechanically, with only the engine mapping differing (and therefore a V6 is only a remap away from becoming a V6S).

On my second service mine didn't need new plugs so the dealer didn't do them, it's mileage related too. Mines in for third service this month, so I'll let you know what they say.

Thanks.
I've have rung 4 dealers. Two say plugs are changed but one of those two said they would clarify by speaking with technician and come back to me tomorrow. The other two dealers say plugs not needed?
None asked for my mileage.
If plugs ARE needed at second service I am happy to have them done but just want clarity. My car only has 5k miles from new on clock.

With 5k on the clock I wouldn't have them done if it costs more, plus I know for a fact my dealer would say don't bother.

If a car can't do 5k on its plugs then there is clearly a problem.

Just got quoted £425 for a 36 month "oil change" i laughed and then he said opps it looks like 49.95 for screenwash not 4.95 then said he wanted £99 for changing the brake fluid - ouch

We are paying £1500 for five annual services, I think we will get vouchers which can be used at any Jaguar dealer. Judging what I have read on here Dosen't sound a bad deal.
Steve.

interesting that Jaguar fixed price servicing on their web site says brake fluid changes on all vehicles is £55 including the XK which can't be any less fluid than the F

For clarity I rang Jaguar about the spark plugs. Here was the response.
"I am emailing you with regards to our earlier telephone conversation.

I can confirm that from investigating your query, the spark plugs will need to be replaced on the 32,000 mile/24 month service. This is to be completed on the V6 380PS engine, which is fitted in your vehicle.

Should you have any further queries, please feel free to contact me"

I then asked do they still need changing if my mileage is only 5k from new and they came back with:
"Thank you for your email.

I can confirm that Jaguar would advise that the vehicle adheres to the servicing schedule and maintenance as outlined to you in your owners handbook or service pack. As the vehicle is approaching 2 years old, despite the low mileage, Jaguar would still advise to service the vehicle as set out in the service schedule.

Should you have any further queries, please feel free to contact me."

So looks like the plugs need doing. Don't mind. All I was wanting was clarity on the situation.
Will get the service done this month

Part Number is C2Z28434 for F-Type 3.0 spark plugs. They are available for £10.43 plus VAT so a lot less than the dealer has quoted. Perhaps they have included fitting in their calculations but it seems quite a difference.

<edited><editID>scoobydoo</editID><editDate>2016-04-02 11:50:48</editDate></edited>

All booked in. Second service as per schedule/jag service plan (after receiving clarity from jag) with sports spark plugs. Managed to haggle down to £600 with dealer.

Just did our second service - £399 but no plugs changed - jaguar sidcup. Double checked it with head technician and computer and still came back no (14 plate v6s).Apparently 'not needed anymore' although there was some sotto voice convo which makes me wonder how much of that was just that they couldn't be arsed to put it back in the garagedidnt have the part to hand....I was pleased they didn't try and sell me overpriced tyres or discs though as both are reaching the debatable point if the dealer was inclined to try their luck. Just brought my car back from it's second service (14 plate V6s).
I have a service plan in place so I didn't get a bill for the work when I picked it up, however, I did see a figure displayed on the service managers computer £297 (presumably +vat) for the basic service.

I had three issues with the car that I needed sorting in addition to the service and they were:

- The drivers window sometimes stays down when the roof is raised or lowered.

- The pop-up air vents try but fail to go up or down

- There was an annoying buzzing sound coming from the back of the cockpit when the throttle is used lightly when moving in heavy, stop start traffic.

Just wanted to report how things have gone after today....

I'm satisfied that the dealer acted on the three issues. I was concerned that the intermittent window problem would be a difficult task for them to deal with due to the intermittency of it, but they informed me that they had done some sort of re installation of the management software and checked all the switches/sensors and report a clean bill of health for that issue....It sounds a positive action on their part, so i'm satisfied on that point.....Let's hope the issue doesn't crop up again.
The buzzing was apparently due to a component in the active exhaust system and is a known fault. The part(s) have been replaced under warranty and all seems to be good.
The poppy-uppy vents have been checked over and the conclusion is that the assembly needs to be replaced, so they are on order and will be sorted in due course under warranty. It's interesting to see that the cost claimed by the dealer for the vent replacement is £236....so....for all of those people with dodgy poppy-uppies....That is likely to be the cost, for the repair I assume. So I suggest we try to take care of our pop up vents and hope they last ok.

...Oh yes, and I had a sit in one of those rather nice F-Pace's......I like....i'm tempted.....next action: A test drive
Thanks for the service and issues report David. I have the same issue at the mo with the vent thingymebob, I should have it under warranty as it ends October this year.
Ah yes, the F-Pace is also calling out to me...the limited edition in blue looks the DBs!

I have been told that spark plugs are not needed until 96000 miles or 6 years old so will not happen whilst in my ownership!!

Mine is the V8 BTW.
