Seats

Good afternoon all.
My 2014 f type has the standard straight up type seats but hoping to change to the more sporty, winged style. Has anybody done this and do the seats fit straight in...obviously the electric operation has to be considered.
Thanks
Steve

Hello Steve. I had my seats replaced a couple of years ago. My original base seats had the basic movements but were heated. You should aim to purchase your new performance seats with the same functionality for a trouble-free swop.

These came out of a 2015 V6S…

My trusted Jag Indie carried out the work for me. He retained the seat modules as they are VIN sensitive. This ensures all functionality is passed across with no additional coding.

Seats were approx £800.00 & garage charged £180.00.

They are in VGC but a future project is to have them reupholstered with a headrest logo.

Good Luck with it 👍

Couple more points…

Not sure I explained it clearly but important to swop the original seat modules into the performance seats. Seats are VIN sensitive. Now my car thinks the performance seats are the originals.

The original seats are practically worthless. I stuck mine on eBay for £150.00. Mo from LR Retrofits bought them for £90.00 for a project.

I’ve a contact in Nottingham who seems to get hold of F-Type parts. I don’t know him personally but he got me my performance seats. Another owner off here had some bits from him recently. Send me a message & I’ll give you his number 👍

I’m going from the sports line (base face lift seats) with 6 way adjustment to 14 way heated / cooled performance face lift seats.

First set I got from a breakers were missing the module which deals with the memory and the module that deals with the heating / cooling aspect. They are surprisingly rare to get and £600 was the cheapest I could find although both seats share the same module.

Second set I got for £350 included the modules so these will go in.

It’s important to note that it very much dependant on what seats you are starting with, the base seats do not have any memory function and so don’t have a module so you can’t carry this over. Potentially you will also need new door cards controls and climate centre console if the new ones are heated and cooled if your current seats aren’t.

It’s definitely worth spending time to get your head around what seats you have and so the ones with the best compatibility so they share the same connectors, from what i found out pre and post face lift connectors are different.

Performance seats don’t pop up that often without the airbag on one going off, I got quoted £100 to replace one on my original set of performance seats.

Hope this helps

Any V6 owner, with the standard sports, looking to upgrade. Pair of nice performance seats which have the standard functionality. You can tell by the manual adjustment arm…
