Rough paint

Gave the car it's first clean with a wooly mit on Tuesday and dried it with an air blaster car dryer. Was in the garden today and accidentally spayed some water on it, so I wiped it off with a micro cloth and noticed the paint felt rough. In fact I could hear a scraping noise as I wiped it. The paintwork looks good but dosen't feel like it should. Has anyone else experienced this?<br />Steve.

Personally I would try a clay bar on that area<br /><br />If you haven't used one before make sure area is well lubricated with car shampoo and water. Then see if it improves things<br /><br />I had same issue with top of rear wings, clay bar took off all of the contaminants causing the roughness

Thanks Ronnie,<br />Had thought about the clay bar but as I have only had the car for two weeks I took it back to the dealer and it is going back on Thursday for repolishing.<br /><br />Steve.

Hiya Steve<br /><br />Depends on dealer how they address, if they get some grunt to just polish a bit harder that damages the paintwork<br /><br />youve still got time hopefully to get a bit of clay and give it a go..if it comes out then discuss with dealer and see if they will use clay on the car or just a grunt with a big cloth whos going to polish the contaminants deeper into the paint

Hopefully they know what they are doing, the car is new so if it is damaged they can put it right. I didn't want to do it myself in case I did any damage and then there would be no comeback.<br />

I'd make sure that you ask them what they are going to do to ensure that its a course of action you'll be happy with before letting them loose

Dropped the car in yesterday, collected it three hours later and it was exactly the same as I gave it to them. Told them it is not acceptable. I spoke to the person who worked on it and apparently he has never heard of a clay bar! It is going to their paint body shop on Monday and will take about three or four days this time. They are lending me another F Type but it is getting a little tedious. 😒<edited><editID>steveh</editID><editDate>2016-04-29 08:33:59</editDate></edited>

Think you need to get them to confirm what they are doing. Last thing you need is them trying to respray t those patches<edited><editID>ronniet</editID><editDate>2016-05-03 12:42:22</editDate></edited>

How right you are, cleaned the car the day after and noticed they had scratched it on the front and put a small scratch on the back and removed some of the lacquer. I have got most of it out and can only see the damage if you look very closely. The annoying thing is the bit they scratched didn't need doing. I told them what an incompetent and stupid bunch of idiots they were and I wouldn't be taking it back. I will do it myself, should have done that in the first place!<br />On a more positive note we have done just over a 1000 miles in the car and we both love it to bits. 😀<br />Steve.<edited><editID>steveh</editID><editDate>2016-05-03 20:18:24</editDate></edited>

Get these guys based in Perth to sort out the paintwork if you want it done properly......perhaps the dealer will put a contribution towards the cost<div><br></div><div>http://www.spotlessvaleting.co.uk/</div><div><br></div><div><br></div><div>steve<br><div><br></div></div>

I have done most of it myself, just needs a few finishing touches. I know what you mean about taking it back but it hardly notices now and I would like to just enjoy the car without any more hassle. I must say the salesman has been very good, nothing has been too much trouble but unfortunately it's the idiots around him. I am sure there are some good people there but I didn't get them.<br />It's funny you should send that link to the detailer Steve because I was recommended to them by someone else, and just this week phoned them for a price to have the front covered with protective film. I will call in next time we are in Perth. Many thanks for that.<br />Steve.<edited><editID>steveh</editID><editDate>2016-05-04 20:50:40</editDate></edited>

Glad your getting the paintwork the way you want it......i have bought an XKRS and 2 F-types from Craig @ Pentland Jaguar and his personal customer service is beyond reproach<div><br></div><div>cheers Steve</div>

Just called in to spotless valleting and I am having the front, wing mirrors and sills covered in a couple of weeks time. Saw Callam, very helpful. Lives local to me, his Dad owns the local chippie.<br />Steve.
