Replacing 600 cel cat to 200 cel cat.

I have a V8 P450 MY 2023 and have fuse 15 removed, thinking of replacing the 600 cel cat to 200 cel cats. The car is still under Jag warranty, has there anyone experienced that this will effect the warranty and does the EML dash error light senses any difference to the cat change on the V8 as I have replaced on other makes of cars and had no issues? Any advise or recommendations of suppliers would be handy to investigate.

I would have thought any excuse to reject a warranty claim if they find anything not standard reject imo
I was toying with removing fuse 15 but nervous about warranty to the point was thinking about “breaking” fuse and leaving it in place just in case it was found missing

1 minute job to put back in before service or warranty claim, so I'm told

why would you, 600 cel cat to 200 cel cats
It helps give you that engine sharpness as not as restrictive and extra that grunt noise. I have removed fuse 15. On other cars I have gone full de-cat and or 200 del and is very noticeable.

They don't measure noise levels with a decibel-o-meter but:

"You must use your judgement to assess exhaust noise:

During the emissions test for the vehicle rev the engine to around 2,500rpm or half the maximum engine speed if this is lower on vehicles not subject to an emissions test
Exhaust noise from the vehicle must not be unreasonably above the noise level you’d expect from a similar vehicle with a standard silencer in average condition"

Well, the F-Type sets that bar quite high!

I understand the standard 600 cel cat incorporates the GPF so swapping to an aftermarket 200 cel cat should add a chunk more noise as well as being freer flowing.
Half tempted to do the same (especially as my car is out of warranty) so curious to find out if others have been happy with such a change

Might be worth considering the modstock "mod" if you want to increase noise levels and retain your warranty and\or not worry about emissions at MOT time.

https://mod-stock.co.uk/collections/v8-f-type

p.s. never used them myself, just throwing out options.

I put the car on the lift today to see how easy it is to replace the cell cats. Its all doable but not an easy swop over. Its getting at the top flange screws is not easy as getting at them from behind the engine. Also the LHS I would have to remove the AWD drive shaft to get access to the cell cat flange screws. I will leave the standard cats on for now as the car is still under warranty.

I have done further investigation on this with speaking to Viezu, Modstock and friends in garages and they all say it would effect the warranty, also there is a high chance the EML will come on the dash then the car will need software altered. Modstock do a rear exhaust box modification which helps reduces the restriction of the cel-cat flow and increases the noise level to the earlier F Type cars before they were restricted. They do a tour of the UK every few months and are in my area next month so I will plan and have a visit to see what's involved.

They go up to Scotland when there are enough bookings made for the area. Have a look at their website and give them a ring , they do an exhaust exchange on your drive in about an hour.

Where are you located? I'm NE Scotland. Tbh I'd rather they modified my silencer since it's only 3 years old 8k miles, just thinking of the valves.

An option may be to ship it. Will speak to them if I go ahead, probably next year.

Modstock came to my house earlier this year on one of their Northern tours and did some back box tweaks (they wouldn’t elaborate on what they were actually doing)

Good lads, but for my particular car it didn’t make a huge difference in sound or volume, it was only a few hundred quid so I wasn’t overly bothered.

Also, it passed its MOT a couple of weeks later, so whatever they did, it didn't affect emissions

I am in Leeds .My 2109 with 30k had one valve seized which came as a bit of a shock . Nice new stainless valves fitted now .. Not that it has fuse 15 in anyway so pretty redundant for me and my neighbours.

After doing some homework on replacing the cel-cats and most peoples opinions are to leave the cats as issues with the sensors and warnings software changes, and do a Mod-stock rear box upgrade. So today I have a Mod-stock upgrade and the sound is now more orgasmic and I am sure it will wake up the dead in the church yard, I would have tested on my dad tonight but he was cremated   There was about ten F-Type plus others getting there cars done today and the sounds of completed cars was fantastic.

Sounds great, just what I need by the sounds of it! Glad it made a noticeable difference on an OPF car, that was my worry.

How long did it take? Did you take the car to them or did they come to you?

They travel the country every two months and they arrange with other garages for there space. They were at Darlington for two days then to Glasgow for two days. I arranged for Darlington today and they have a team of guys and all the equipment to do the mods. It took them about 1.5hrs on my car and some others were less.
