Paint gouges

Has anyone had a problem with seat belts stopping the door from closing? Seems a daft question but I have today found three gouges in the door surround and have no idea how they got there. The only thing I can think could have caused it is the seat belt buckle though I can,t see how this could happen without me noticing. The gouges are about an inch long and an inch apart. Very annoying on an almost new car. Anyone have any idea? Thanks. Bill

The seat belts getting trapped could only happen if the belt was not retracting back after unbuckling. If the belt does not pull back when unbuckled there may be a spring problem requiring the belt mounting to be replaced.

Jaguar seat belts don't seem to retract as easily as some other manufacturers'. I have noticed this with mine so try to always make a point of checking the buckle isn't going to be trapped when the door is shut. I had a similar problem with my last car (Jag XF) & had new front belts fitted under warranty. Agreed, it's really annoying & feel that such a simple thing that most manufacturers get right is something that appears to blight the mighty Jaguar!
