Has anyone else seen a huge insurance increase this year?
My renewal is more than double last year….. was £380 now £900 😱
I’ve done some quick quotes and it’s still coming in around £700.

I have no extra risks I’m aware of this year, 8 years NCD and had 0 points since last year so thought I’d see it go down🤣

No huge increase from Admiral for me - I think our cars are similar - but so many postcode and age conditions used to bump up the price. I’m 61 living in GL7 and I’m paying £441 on a multi-car policy.

Your increase implies that the underwriters have changed their risk profile away from performance cars, I would suggest.

It's based on Postcode area, number of claims, vehicle based crime in your area and another number of factors.

Thanks Jeff
I’m near to you OX7 and 58 also run 2 cars.
I’m double checking there isn’t something else I’ve missed and done a MIB data request to check no obscure claim has been recorded against my name.

Yes, I get that but I’ve made no claims, clean licence, nothing else has changed and thought I lived in low crime area in the Cotswolds! Must be the influx of high risk cars at Clarksons Farm!

Lol no. Explained how it works already.

Post code is the biggest factor. Below is a link which explains and you can look up your post code as well.

Thank you, that’s really helpful; though it tells me I’m in a low risk A postcode as I thought, so doesn’t explain why my premium has gone up so much.

I happened to be reading some interesting reports on car insurance and confused.com look to an average increase of 19% in 2023. Of course nobody is average but it gives a start point.
One of the factors aside inflation is that during Covid traffic, mileage and hence claims decreased so did of course claims. Now it’s returned to normal increased claims, etc so the premiums have followed

I'm in OX4 so I hope it's not an Oxford thing!!
I'll find out in a few months. Although I am considering a small electric daily which will reduce the Jag mileage by 75% which should help if I go that way.

You say that like it's a good thing! :o
I love driving it, don't get me wrong. But I could save a fortune with a smaller daily for the drudge of city traffic. 12-16mpg every day isn't fun :) I'm a whisker off 10k miles in 14 months. It would save wear and tear on the Jaaaaaag and besides it was never really my intention to have it as a daily. I'd always though of an e-scooter (if they became legal) or a small EV for the daily stuff but I could do with one that would do a realistic 150 miles per charge because I'd be tied to using the supercharger down the road as I'm in a flat with no feasible charge point at home.

Using the supercharger down the road is driving the F 😎

Not the car to be using in heavy town traffic though for sure - the stress of the surrounding muppets can take the enjoyment out of it.

Gotta disagree there - when I'm stuck in traffic the F-Type is such a nice place to be I feel really smug seeing all the unfortunates in their "normal" cars, looking at me enviously!

Did you manage to find a better quote ?

Same is happeing to me. No variables changed except a year older. Premium up with existing insurer +48% argued to +21% on the phone...but still not happy.

Market comparing sites worse price with worse excesses.

No, not found anything much cheaper, unless I take off things like protected no claims or have a stupid excess. So looking like £700 which is just my under double last year.
As a check I got a quote on my other car (non jag) which was under £300 last summer, that would only go up £25; so it seems to be more about the higher risk car/group I think.
