Non-heated seats to heated ?

Just found out the MY2020 P380 I've put a deposit on doesn't have heated seats. Might sound trivial, but I've had heated seats for 30 ish years and like them.

Before you ask, it had a long long list of options in the ad (including heated windscreen & steering wheel) and yes, i did notice it didn't say heated seats which is why I asked, and just got the confirmation this morning.

Q. Does anyone know how much is involved in changing to heated ?

Can the round climate switches have the heated seat function added (is it just a software tweak) ?

Does the loom between the dash and seats carry the cable for heating function (I'd guess it's just a feed from the power seat adjustment cable) ?

It will mean new heated seats (there seem to be plenty around).

Has anyone on the forum done this ? Is it reasonably straightforward or a total non-starter ?

Reasonably straightforward yes - loom is the same, so swap the seats over and I believe you need a new control panel.
Check out how it’s done as you need to move the seats to get at the bolts then set them in a certain position before unplugging the motion loom.

Thanks Lunar, that's helpful.

I've decided it's not a deal-breaker, and knowing I can do the conversion later and take my time finding good seats is good to know.

New control panel sounds expensive, ouch !

Not necessarily - this one has the heated front screen switch you’ll need, BUT you do need to verify it came out of a car with heated seats, as the symbol doesn’t show until powered up - I guess you can also tell by being able to push the rotary dial in, so an easy question to ask.

Thanks Lunar and gasgas, the deal just fell through :x

Booked a comprehensive AA check for later this week and ran the online used car checker this afternoon. Discovered there's an outstanding loan which the dealer failed to mention. When I politely asked about it he said I was making this purchase "painful" - LMFAO. Seriously.

He offered to return my deposit and I couldn't get away fast enough.

Just shows you it's really worth doing these basic checks. Oh well, the search continues. If anyone spots a coupe in Silicon Silver, circa 2020 and 20,000 miles let me know :D

Just to confirm the one you were looking at was Corris Grey not Silicon Silver. Car 48480. Limited service history and also used in Germany in its early years. It had been on two private plates previously which might be confusing some car check data services but they should appear on the report you got anyway.

Dealers hey? Always get an independent check such as Car Vertical (10% off via this forum, link at the top).

It could well have been a stocking loan. Basically a dealer will take out a short term loan to fund the car purchase until it sells. I had the same on my F Type and it didn't concern me as I was aware many dealers do this.

Hi CSGMART,

I'm aware of stocking loans and didn't have a problem with it either, as long as they cleared it on purchase. But in my entire life I've never had a dealer tell me I was making the deal painful. I thought it was pretty rude and unprofessional and made me feel uncomfortable. Struck me as a really odd thing to say to a potential customer and instantly I didn't want to do a deal with the guy.

Sounds like you made the right choice.
