Guys,

<p ="msonormal"="">I'm posting my nightmare story with the hope that you can
suggest how this can be resolved? Jaguar Customer Relations seem to push the
responsibility to the dealer€¦ But I'm still left with the following nightmares.

<p ="msonormal"="">

Car €“ 2015 F-Type 5.0 AWD R

Dealer €“ Jaguar Southampton, UK

Mileage 15,984

Age - 1 year €“ 2 months

Previous owner €“ Jaguar Land Rover

<p ="msonormal"="">Nightmare 1

<p ="msolistparagraphcxspfirst"="" style="text-indent:-18.0pt;mso-list:l1 level1 lfo1">·
Bought the car a few months ago with a slight
knocking noise from the engine €“ the response from the salesman was €˜they all
sound like that' In the excitement of the purchase and the knowledge that I
bought an approved used car with low mileage €“ I assumed it would be ok?

<p ="msolistparagraphcxsplast"="" style="margin-left:72.0pt;mso-add-space:auto; text-indent:-18.0pt;mso-list:l1 level2 lfo1"><span style="font-family:"Courier New";mso-fareast-font-family:"Courier New"">o
After the purchase I realised this was not right
and the dealer agreed this needed looking into €“ But after 3 weeks in total the
engine is out of the car and stripped down but still unfixed and in bits!!

<p ="msonormal"="">Nightmare 2

<p ="msolistparagraphcxspfirst"="" style="text-indent:-18.0pt;mso-list:l1 level1 lfo1">·

car paddock at this weekends Festival of Speed, but with the engine out of the
car and stripped down, the dealer is certain it won't be ready by the weekend
and is unsure of when it will be fixed !!!

I'd want to know what its exact history was before you bought it. If it was a traded or exchanged car with problems then I can't imagine you wouldn't have a legal case for exchange yourself.

I'd also remove the fact you noticed it was knocking before you bought it - oh to have hindsight, but you were not to know they didn't make those noises.

Why was the steering wheel changed for a non heated - thats bizarre. It all sounds very dodgy!

So sorry your having these issues as normally they are very good cars - it doesn't help you at the moment, but may give you some comfort if they sort it. Good luck.

I agree with daytona650. Without being too paranoid about things, I would try to get more info on the cars previous life.

My car was purchased from Southampton Jaguar via my local dealership in South Yorkshire (same dealership group) as an authorised used car. It has been a pretty problem free experience....so far...(12months in).
When my car was sold as a new car it was purchased through a Swansea dealership and that does highlight the fact that these cars can get moved around quite a bit, even very early in their life, and therefore potentially any secondhand car could have had any number of drivers behind the wheel...careful ones and maybe careless ones. I guess 'we' just have to have faith and rely on the manufacturers warranty being comprehensive when we buy second hand.

Best of luck.
"nightmare" sounds like a gross overstatement. Clearly they are having problems finding the noise - what would you have them do - put it back together and tell you they cant find the noise? Maybe you expect them to replace the car with a brand new one?

As for the steering wheel, was this on the car when you agreed to buy it? If so then you are entitled to have it replaced. If it wasnt, but you only know by some other route, then hard luck. Maybe it was removed and nicked by someone at the garage - that happened on my Merc with vanishing wheel badges.

The high beam should be corrected. The overspray would be on the car when you agreed to buy it so its not the garages problem nor is it Jaguars. The car was second hand - you cannot expect it to be perfect as new.

Sounds as if the only serious issue is the engine noise and provided they are working on the car and have not just pushed it into a corner then its best to wait until the problem is solved. You need to talk to the service manager and get chapter and verse of what is happening since to strip and re-build an engine is a couple of days at worst. So exactly what is the delay.
Good afternoon bellingerp,

I have taken the opportunity to speak with your Case Manager here at Jaguar Land Rover Customer Relations and he has confirmed that your issue is now resolved.

Many thanks,

Lucy

If the car was advertised as having a heated steering wheel, then it should be included regardless of them removing it otherwise. If it was not on the car and not in the paperwork or advert, then don't think you have a case. Obviously you have the evidence, so it should be there.

Good luck with getting your car fixed.

I'm now happy that it's now being progressed and I'm feeling a whole lot better.

Engine update - Two valves and valve buckets are going to be replaced

Goodwood - Jaguar have agreed to provide me a 3.0 F-Type Coupe for the weekend - I'm pleased I'm going in an F-Type !!

Paddle shifters - Dealer has agreed this will be restored onto the car.

Friend of mine at work bought an Audi, which after a few months started using oil like there was a hole in the sump.

This also seemed to take weeks and weeks before they decided to fix the engine. But it was rebuilt and now a year on with another 20k miles everything is fine.

Enjoy Goodwood. I could just about hear a previous generation F1 car running up the hill today, lovely noise.
