New to me V8 AWD Coupe

Hi all, I just got my big cat on Wednesday, a Black Berry MY16 coupe V8 with AWD.
Lots of toys, but lots of miles already on her.

Traded up from a BMW 435i and added some savings etc.

Only done 100 miles from delivery and already in love, when can I go on a road trip?!

Pics to follow…

BlueBottle,

Every trip out in a F-Type is a road trip - enjoy!

So, apparently I’m not asleep and having a nightmare, this has actually just happened…

Washing the cars, just started to jet wash the road grime off the Jag prior to snow foaming and a huge flake of paint comes off, apparently back to the primer layer? I don’t think this is bare metal… any thoughts? For reference I was using an old Karcher washer which is definitely for home use, just did my 2012 Range Rover with it no problems…

Congratulations on your new acquisition & sorry to see this. I’d be taking straight back, to where ever it came from, for repair.

Hi and welcome.

Is that filler? I would be taking it back for sure!
Happy to look at history (if you provide a reg).

Yes back to the dealer must be some kind of warranty on it , only had it 2 weeks

I’m not sure what it is… the paint came off in a large flake, it seems slightly flexible one way but brittle if bent the other way.

Original reg was OV15 ZMY - thank you!

Hi Bluebottle
I've been awaiting your further posts with pictures as I thought you may have my old car.
Sorry this has happened, most disconserting after such a short time.
I'm posting now to reassure you that it was well looked after in my ownership from 2017 and no accident damage or re painting while I owned it.
It is to date the most reliable Jag I've owned
PM me if you would like any further info
Andre

Well, the long and short of it is that I need to get this repaired. Anyone got any good tips for paint restoration work in the Reading/Guildford/Basingstoke triangle area please?

Give Auto Curators near Hook a call.

I've used them to detail my car and restore kerbed alloys (the latter was done by another specialist company on behalf of AC).

If they can't do the actual repair, I'm sure they'll be able to advise you.

So, someone in my car’s past had some sort of issue and then the repair was bodged.
The whole o/s sill has been primed improperly, possibly with an aerosol primer. The top layers have then not keyed in and just come off in sheets.
Looking like a £500 bill at best. 😡
