hi all.

not new to the jaguar brand as I have had 2 XKR's over the last 5 years. the most recent one being a polaris white 5.0 litre coupe with speed pack and black pack. really loved that one but...

had it over 2 years and itchy feet syndrome took hold. problem what the heck to buy next but it was going to be a jaguar.

tried an XFR-S - great fun but just too big.

looked at an XKR-S but too much money and that much different to the last 2 cars? probably not.

so decided F Type coupe was the way to go.

after a lot of research - I found the right 2014 car at H A Fox in Norwich of all places. Italian racing red, 16k miles and all the right extras (save for the roof) but you cant have it all - mind you the first owner did spec the full leather headlining so not all bad.

in the picture below my old car is in the background.

had the red car for about 10 days now and am really thrilled with the car every time I look at it let alone drive it. maybe not the out and out grunt of a 5 litre 503 bhp monster but plenty quick and the handling is just on a different level altogether.

Tim.

Looking good. You are going to have a lot of fun. Make sure you look after those carbon blades. I managed to kerb one of mine and as the face of the rim is diamond turned it cost a small fortune to put right.

I usually park a short walk from the kerb lol. I got the dealer to throw in alloy wheel insurance cover as part of the deal so I have few "free" refurbs covered but hope not to use it. the wheels and the colour were big factors in choosing the car to be honest.

Welcome to the FTOC Tim!

Smashing colour combo, but then I am biased

Wonder how long before you go for the V8?

Never driven an XKRS. for now loving the S even with only 380.

and I have seen 35mpg on gentleish drive back from Norwich - now with the savings on road tax as well as fuel savings it will have paid for itself in 25 years or so.

the XKR-S is a fair sharper than the standard car but a sports car it aint.

The V6S felt more balanced and better throug corners like a sports car should be and almost as fast. Wouldn't mind trying the SVR though.
Steve.

I didn't try the V8 as they were still beyond my self imposed budget.

I am finding the S more than quick enough "in the real world", am loving the exhaust note and the handling balance is a bit of a revelation after an XKR.

really don't feel that I "short changed myself" by only buying the S model. should have bought one months ago!

You might want to read the small print on your wheel insurance!!
I had it inc in my package and i'm 99% certain it doesnt cover wheels with polished rims.
will check and will have words if it doesn't as they tried to sell it to me for £250 so would be odd if it didn't as the sales man pointed out how good an idea it would be to have it as the rims are diamond cut

Welcome to the forum!

And those alloys.... oh man... wish I could find a set of those going to stick on mine! ;)

yes the wheels made me drive 175 miles on a Saturday to see the car lol.

I am not surprised there are few sets about as they are over £3k as a new option and almost £4k to buy 4 wheels new from Jaguar.

I did see a set on ebay from a wheel specialist - nearly new and they wanted £1995

they really meet my 2 rules for wheels - they cant be too big and they cant be too easy to clean

You might want to read the small print on your wheel insurance!!
I had it inc in my package and i'm 99% certain it doesnt cover wheels with polished rims.

it says doesn't cover "polished (chromed)" wheels - I don't see blades falling foul of that but I will check with dealer,

My expensive mistake - white van man in middle of the road so it was either a wing mirror (or worse) or avoiding action and a kerbed carbon blade. Now totally fixed and £150 the poorer.....Plus a new tyre.

Welcome to the forum.

Another lovely IRR.........there's definitely a trend beginning to form here, but i can appreciate why that is.
