MPG through the seasons temperatures

So I have my 20 plate V8 P450 and getting used to how thirsty the big cat can be.

I know my old turbos used to enjoy certain temperatures but since this is a supercharger I am wondering if it performs differently and do you see better averages during the summer say then the colder months?

I also always believe in the super stuff 98 ron or more, since E10 came in which is a very watered down petrol and burns faster, even the tesco momentum is better at 99 ron for bigger engines and also thing it makes a bit of a difference on mpg.

Fair enough question but in all reality we may be talking only about 1-2 mpg at best. The cars' ECU and the measurement of intake therein does optimize the drain on the tank as does your right foot. Keep averaging good mpg and your your fuel range will be calculated on previous metrics, upon a full fill and look to have a good range. Keep booting it and the range on fill up will reduce. Why not try that as I think that would be a better and more fun in finding out :)

To sum up, the cooler the weather the better for the engine. I used to run VXR's and in the cooler weather the oil cooler would work more efficiently and hence better turbo performance. As for cooling the supercharger on the V8, there is so much power to hand, especially the older R version, that any performance difference to the everyday useable power is transparent. But don't take my word for it :) play with the motor.

What MPG are you averaging? I've currently got a 4.0 V8 Merc and on a run with some hard acceleration i'll be looking at 9mpg, I average 15 and on a very careful motorway run you can just about get it to mid 20's before dropping back into the teens as soon as you come off and into a town etc.

My average mpg since mid 2018 (yeah I'm sad enough to log it all!) is 17.4933, mainly shortish journeys with the occasional long one thrown in. My best single journey was 122.5 miles at an average speed fo 49 mph with a consumption figure of 34.5 mpg. Tank to tank has varied between 12.0370 and 28.3841. My F-Type is more economical than my previous XKR, which "only" had 503 bhp.

It is interesting, ofcourse the 5 L V8 with its power does not have to work as hard as say the 2L.
I have got about 24.7 the 5 days of ownership, I enjoying my work run spurts and coming home.
I am curious as I want to plan some longer journeys and would be good to know what is achievable on a cruise long distance.

Also curious on difference between E10 and E5

It’s very easy to see mid-30’s on a steady run.
The 5.0 motor is hardly working.

My 575 hp motor seems slightly more efficient than my last XKR Dynamic 5.0 was, but that may be more to do with the different, newer auto box than the increased 70 horses…
Super cars, though, both of them.

I have done Stowmarket to Rugby on A14, 107 miles, average speed 63.0 mph however cruise was set to 73 mph when roads were clear and achieved 34.9 mph. From Rugby to Knutsford another 94 miles, average speed 65 I achieved 37.4 mpg in my V8. Almost as efficient as my previous 2.0 diesel HSE Disco.
