<span style="font-family: Helvetica; font-size: 18px; line-height: normal;">Hi, I've joined this forum as I am looking to get myself a used F-type convertible, I've been thinking about it for the last 12 months and have finally decided that this year is the right year.</span><div style="font-family: Helvetica; font-size: 18px; line-height: normal;"><br></div><div style="font-family: Helvetica; font-size: 18px; line-height: normal;">Just a bit of background, I'm lucky enough to have owned various interesting cars over the years, I have literally just sold in the last couple of days my Aston Martin V8 Vantage Roadster the I bought as a stopgap whilst waiting for used prices to drop a bit on the F-type front.</div><div style="font-family: Helvetica; font-size: 18px; line-height: normal;">Frankly I was underwhelmed with the Aston Martin, a beautiful car to look at that really not that exciting to drive.</div><div style="font-family: Helvetica; font-size: 18px; line-height: normal;"><br></div><div style="font-family: Helvetica; font-size: 18px; line-height: normal;">The F-type will be a weekend/sunshine car for me, it will sit in my garage alongside a Ferrari 360 which I've got no intention of parting with.</div><div style="font-family: Helvetica; font-size: 18px; line-height: normal;">My daily driver is a new Mercedes SLK. I also have a BMW X5 for the family chores as well as a new BMW i3 electric buggy (a fantastic car by the way).</div><div style="font-family: Helvetica; font-size: 18px; line-height: normal;"><br></div><div style="font-family: Helvetica; font-size: 18px; line-height: normal;">I haven't yet driven an F-type in the UK, but I'm hiring one from Avis next week for 24 hours and spend the time driving on all of my favourite local roads in and around the Cotswolds and possibly heading into South Wales.</div><div style="font-family: Helvetica; font-size: 18px; line-height: normal;"><br></div><div style="font-family: Helvetica; font-size: 18px; line-height: normal;">In 2014 I took my son on a driving holiday for his tenth birthday, work was busy, so I flew to Munich and hired an F type for a 6 day blast around the various Swiss Alp mountain passes. We have a whale of a time, at that point I totally fell in love with the car. That particular car was a Non S V6, but very well specified including the switchable sports exhaust.</div><div style="font-family: Helvetica; font-size: 18px; line-height: normal;">I love the trip so much I went back a couple of months later with a very good friend, hired another one, this time a V6 S and did the same thing again for another 6 days. Unfortunately got locked in the car on the last day, drivers side door failed to open.</div><div style="font-family: Helvetica; font-size: 18px; line-height: normal;"><br></div><div style="font-family: Helvetica; font-size: 18px; line-height: normal;">To finish off, because we enjoyed the trip for my son's tenth birthday, I'm taking him back to do something similar in another hired F-type at the beginning of the school summer holidays, again picking the car up in Munich and heading straight down into the mountains.</div>

Do you want to adopt <img src="http://www.ftypeforums.co.uk/images/converted_files/smileys/smiley4.gif" border="0" alt="Big smile" title="Big smile" />. It sounds like you have a great time with your son. You are both very lucky to enjoy these trips together.

I reckon used is the best way to go. That's what I did and so far i'm a happy bunny.<br><br>One or two folks have mentioned that they got such a good deal new, that there was no reason to buy second hand, but i'm not so sure about that. Each purchase has fairly unique circumstances with these things, I suppose.<br><br>Anyway...welcome to the forum and good luck with the search....It's all part of the fun! <br>

Thanks guys for the welcome.<div><br></div><div>Today I have spent the afternoon with my son test driving a V6S at our local dealer. They were kind enough to hand us the keys and give us a couple of hours with the car.</div><div>I was hoping to drive a V8S, but unfortunately the car wasn't available as it had only just arrived in stock. I'm going back to drive it on Wednesday.</div><div><br></div>
