I bought my f type online during the pandemic, so I took the Gamble and bought the car after a video call etc, I was happy with the price, mileage, service history etc. Now we were out for a spin yesterday and the better half pointed out the seats could do with a clean particularly the drivers seat, so today I have cleaned them up and revealed some damage hidden under dirty leather. I will get this fixed as I like my cars to be right, my question is why would you pay all that money for a car and not look after it especially when it's a very special car and not cheap to buy new or second hand.

Interesting looking at your photo- I have a similar red interior and found scraping marks on the outer bolster panel on the drivers side exactly where I think yours is although the wear and tear is not as deep as yours. I bought ‘all in one 60ml Jaguar leather repair paint for dyeing and restoring car interior’ on eBay for £9.95. This is the best thing I have bought as it does restore the nature of the leather and is mostly invisible as it blends in well. It is applied with a sponge and restores the cracks and white scrape marks. May need a few coats but application can be made every now and again as a touch up as clearly it is an area of high friction contact getting in and out of the car. Give it a go would be interested to see how you get on but try to repair yourself before looking at other options??

CPBLondon, thanks for that I will have a look at getting some and give it a go, it took me hours just getting the grime out the leather with auto glym leather cleaner and restorer. Will post another photo when I've tried the repairer 👍

I have similar issue and will try the jaguar kit, mine is red also but upon selecting the colours there are 2 or 3 reds, where can one identify the colour ?

If you search the advert you will see its from furniture clinic and below in the listing are the options for your car. It shows 2010 - present all models and look at ‘red zone (CJA)’ which is the only red option.
It blends in really well although obviously it’s not perfect but you will notice a vast improvement to the whitening that scrapes cause on the red interior. Unless you know the damage is there most will not see it.

Here is the bolster which had lots of scratches that appeared white against the leather. This pic has the paint repair applied and hides the damage quite well.

That repair looks really good I have ordered the red zone cja as you suggested, should be with me by Wednesday. I was thinking I would be looking at getting a panel replaced at first but if I can get it any where near as good as yours I will be more than happy. I think it may be caused by the seat belt buckle there is also some damage to the sill where the seat belt has been jammed between the door and the sill.

Whilst I have used the repair paint they do offer a repair ‘kit’ for more serious damage. This is designed for tears to leather and not sure just how good it is but there may be a method with this kit of filling in the damaged leather and then applying the paint repair. The kit has a filler paste but I have never tested it but it might be worth a try before replacing the panel?

Yes I did see that kit when looking, I will see how it looks when I've had a go at it with the kit I've ordered, might be worth going with the filler if it stops it from getting worse.

I have used furniture clinic before for re dying car seats a very good company and products won’t go far wrong with them cheers Tony.

Aren't the side bolsters on the F-Types quite sensitive? Maybe it was just an early car issue and/or only certain types of seats but I remember being surprised by how worn out they were on seemingly very new cars back when the F-Type was launched. Not just wrinkles, but the surface of the leather simply worn off. Neither of my previous XFs suffered from that although my last XF had the full fat sports seats with very hard and protruding side bolsters.

Mine are fortunately still in fantastic nick though. :)

Well the repair paint turned up a few days early so I've had a go, it's not perfect but it looks a lot better, here are some before and after pics. IMG_20210605_131159.jpg

I would be happy with that it is much better than before!! I wonder if the filler would smooth it down and help prevent further damage? I doubt any repair would be invisible but that will be an area of high wear and tear when getting in and out of your pride and joy. I hate to think what a new panel would cost?

To be honest I will be keeping the paint repair for future mishaps all across the red interior as I am sure there will be more!

Job well done there Banksy .....

Ha ha Banksy I wish, thanks for the recommendation CPB London, its good gear well worth a tenner I am happy with the way it looks and have plenty left if needed. 👍
