le mans and the roadster boot

Off to the classic le mans in the roadster with swmbo. Few days touring in France afterwards so 12 days in all. We all know that the roadster luggage capacity is a joke but has anyone found a way round it?

For example, with the hood up ( and it will be up with aircon on if the temperature is 30-C) there is a good space where the hood fold up behind the seats. You can see it through the rear window, but has anyone found a way yo get at it?

Has anyone bought and used a rack that fits on the boot lid?

Hi Howard,

Have a read here - might help...

We use the space behind the seats where the roof goes - just use stuff in soft bags, not too heavy (clothes / coats etc) and dont put the roof down!

We have toured round europe every year in the car for 5 years now, each time no problem at all for a couple of weeks. It's just a case of clever packing and for us having soft bags that each have a role - most of them stay in the car when we reach a hotel and then lift out a couple at the top.

Practice makes perfect!

Never needed the roof space, just pack clever and use soft bags....been away for over a week with the Mrs, touring and believe me she doesn't pack light !....never had a problem

how do you get to " the space behind the seats where the roof goes" on a roadster ? Covered by trim panels on my car and they dont look removeable.

Just use the space behind the headrests below the back window - it's surprisingly large (relative to the small boot) but most of the stuff behind the trim panels etc is full of amplifiers, cables, metal etc so thats the only space other than the boot.

I love the small boot - it means the missus cant pack too much or shop too much :)

With you on the advantage of a small boot Daytona!

As for putting stuff in front of the rear window I'd never want to do that, and even more so when driving abroad, so yes useful but only up to the base of the window.

Visibility issues aside, I can't understand taking a convertible abroad and not having the roof down at every opportunity - I actually found it kept me more alert on the motorways - and the misses can't talk so much :D

Maybe me but the wind deflector's been in the garage since I got the car as, for the minimal advantage it give it spoils the lines and hampers rear view a little too. I like people to enjoy their F-Type spotting experience not just the noise 8-)
