Keyless Entry Door Unlocking

Hi Guys

It may be senile old me not used to all this modern stuff but I can't seem to understand how the Keyless Entry works from reading the handbook for my newly acquired MY2014 V6. The hpi check results I had with the car lists all the optional equipment which does list Keyless start and entry so I initially wondered if the car actually had it fitted!

The car locks and unlocks OK when using the remote key fob with the door handles deploying and closing OK. What is confusing me is the handbook says that Keyless Entry allows the vehicle to be unlocked and disarmed by simply operating the door handle provided the Smart key is within 1 metre. With the Smart key in my pocket I can manually deploy the door handle and then try to open the door but the door remains locked and doesn't open!

My son wondered if there was a setting where this function can be disabled or not?

Any thoughts on what I'm doing wrong?

Does the end of the handle have a little button insert in it, proving it to have keyless entry?

If so then it may well have been disabled to increase security on these older models.

Can you open the boot by pressing the release button under the lid with the fob in your pocket? Can you lock the car my double-pressing the door handle in?

Of course, the handbook is rather generic and may refer to things not actually fitted to your car. As Lunar asked, do you have a button in the door handle, or is it just an indentation?

No it doesn't have a button just a small thumb depression.

Then you don't have keyless entry. I have the same MY
If of any consolation I have it disabled to prevent specific signal boost keyless entry theft..

Thanks for the info. I'm not too worried if it has or not, I just want to know either way. It's strange that the HPI check results show all the optional equipment it's got including Keyless entry. Never mind!

I haven't tried the boot but I have noticed that when the door handle is out you can't press the handle in not wanting to force it.

So when the car is parked up say at a show and you don't need to lock it can you have the handles in flush or is locking it the only way to have them in when you are outside of the car?

If you don't have keyless entry the boot probablyr won't unlock on the button. I don't think you can retract the handles without locking the car. If your car supports two-stage unlocking (single fob press to unlock driver's door, double press to unlock both) you can leave it unlocked with just the driver's door handle sticking out.
