Jaguar still Tweeking Software

F Type drop off for service and MOT this afternoon. Briefed that it had two outstanding software updates, one was for Incontol media and the other management system. Dealer firmly told not to update software that effects noise of exhaust. Surprisingly they said no problem we understand and will make note. I have asked for more details on the managment system update.

InControl is probably H251- Complimentary software update. When mine was done, the software update crashed and the car was off the road for two days while the dealer fixed it. When I got home, voice guidance on navigation didn't work. Another two days at the dealer to fix corrupted software. When I got home, I had lots of spurious warning messages. Found out that the battery charge was low, caused by incorrect shutdown of the OBD port by the dealer. Another day off the road while I reset and charged the battery. Informed the dealer by email. They didn't even have the courtesy to acknowlege my email. Hope you have better luck than I did. Check voice guidance on navigation before you leave the dealer - I've seen other instances of this reported.

can't imagine that the dealer has any control over what is downloaded or not, once plugged into the main frame it just happens.

They should ask you, and if you say no then they just press no to the update. It just software and they will get prompt like you do for windows. If you ask the right questions when dropping your car off it will not be up dated. They legal can not up date if you say no thanks.

Initial phone call to book car in, check with service advisor if any software updates are outstanding for your vehicle. If not, fine. If so, you can ask for a note to be put on your service sheet, “no software updates to be applied”.

When dropping car off I would then double check your request has been noted.

No valet.
No software updates. (Can't anyway with OBD cover)
No rollers when you MOT test brakes.

We aren't leaving them much to do!

Agree with Tel and DaddyDarren, picked up car from 36 month service and Mot. All good and software was not updated.
