Jaguar F-Type Base V6 manual on the track?

Hi all,

With a broken heart, I sold my F-Type R one year ago as I was moving to Tokyo.

Now, my only motorized wheels are a 2.0 litre diesel Passat (RHD!) occassionally battling Tokyo traffic.

So, I will buy a track car (or a car with the sole purpose of taking to the track) that I will keep in Sweden so I have something to play with when I visit. I have given myself a budget of 20-30 K EUR for this, and I realized that if I squeeze that budget just a liiiiiitle, I get into manual F-Type base V6 territory!

I realize that it isn't a track car per se, but it looks great, sounds great and will be unique on track!

So my question is really:
a) Is the manual F-Type base V6 any fun to drive on track? Compared to eg a Cayman S?
b) Does it have ANY track credentials? Can it at all be competitive with other cars in the same price range and engine size? At least in the same league?
c) What can be done to make it faster? Eg limited slip differential (from V6S), BBK, coilovers, header/ tune, catback exhaust?

Grateful for your input!

Thanks!

Jonas

I don't know about suitability for tracking, but the manual F-Types are very rare (else why would Jaguar discontinue them) and early models have issues with the clutch - there are, I believe, 4 generations to get them to work successfully. The US forum has several threads about it.

Hmm OK I didn't know. Yeah I know they are rare - the V6S manuals are even more so! But there are a couple of manual base V6s for sale currently on mobile.de. Some with quite tempting pricing.

Thanks for the tip though, will check out the US forums.
