History clarification please.

Hi there,
I’m brand new and probably late to the forum but have recently put a deposit on an F-type at a non-franchised dealer.
OY69XEG.
I carried out a check which raised some potential issues most of which don’t concern me but seeing the comprehensive information available on here you may be able to help clear up one niggle I have.

Unusual for an F-type it clocked up nearly 30k in the first 2 years and (more normal) very little since.
With an owner change in the first few months I think it may have been a demo but my only concern is where it most likely clocked up that chunk of miles.

It has above average owners and recent ones have never kept longer than 1 year and the most recent took long term finance on it only to dump it soon after which does raise a bit of a question but again not a red flag.

Car has been on sale over 3 months (it is 90 day white 😀) AWD 380 Chequered flag coupe.
Any info on this one.
Richard

I'm sure SimpleR will be along at some point to confirm, but I believe an OY reg will mean it was most likely a Paragon fleet car (not definitely but service history will provide more detail on that).

There are some details on it here: https://www.ftypeforums.co.uk/viewtopic.php?t=3300&start=40

1) Ex Corporate Repurchase
A Jaguar/Land Rover vehicle previously owned by a vehicle rental company or allocated to a fleet available to JLR customers and partners.
Possible multiple users.

2) Ex Jaguar Internal Fleet
A Jaguar/Land Rover vehicle previously allocated to a fleet available to JLR customers and partners.
Possible multiple users.

3) Ex Jaguar Management
A Jaguar/Land Rover vehicle previously allocated to an individual employee.

The short version is you will most likely never know what it was used for in the very beginning. It could of been part of Jaguar's fleet run by a manager, a press car, a track day car, a rental car... it's anyone's guess really.

Thanks Stefan,

I had a suspicion the plate may be a Jaguar registration because I saw quite a lot of O plates in my searching and it’s early keeper change.
I prefer that it’s well run in, just a little worry that 30k miles at high revs on a track might be a bit much.
What I have seen of service history looks good with 48k done with diff oils and a new service due now as part of sale.
Given the exterior and particularly interior condition I don’t see it having lots of people jumping in and out of it trackside but as you say it’s never certain.

Yeh, I'm not experienced enough to even have a guess at it to be honest. I might be completely wrong, but I suspect a track car or track press car wouldn't come back with that high a mileage in that timeframe, but that is a bit of guesswork.
At the end of the day, with a used car you'll never know what the previous owner got up to. A private owner could of taken their car on a few track days or drive around banging off the limiter all the time.

If it makes you feel any better mine is an ex-Paragon car that came back to Jaguar after 1 year with 12,380 miles on it. What it was doing in that time is anyone's guess but other than the usual Jag issues (centre rising vent got stuck, leak in the boot and keyless stopped working on drivers door), it seems to be fine. It's not done more than 4000 miles a year since that first one, the service history is full, the condition is pretty clean... suits me fine.

By way of contrast mine was also an ex-Paragon car that was apparently a manager's car which I bought after a year with 1300 (count 'em!) miles on it. Brand new car for a 30% discount - what's not to like? Nearly 6 years in and it's been great - a couple of issues sorted under warranty and maintained by my trusted independent.

It was a Paragon Fleet Solutions car. I looked up the VIN and info early, it is car 66603 and will try and post something later this evening. (Go karting on Mondays!)

I’m not bothered at all by it being a lease or fleet car and doing 29k in 26 months. I’m not even bothered about the slight mileage discrepancy that can easily be explained. I’m also well aware you can never know what previous owners get up to, my 3 week old 500 mile Fiesta ST spent a day going round Brands Indy circuit a few years ago. I just hope it hasn’t lived somewhere like the ring for2 years,

666, the number of the beast. I like that !

OY69 XEG is car 66603.

It started life (1st owner) with Paragon Fleet Solutions from 11th September 2019 and did 5063 miles up to start of Feb 2020 (what it was used for I do not know, but it is rare for a demo to have so many miles and manager cars are for 12-15 months so this could of been a rental car) where it went through BCA closed auction and was picked up by Harwoods Jaguar in Hampshire on 17th Feb 2020.

The second owner picked it up on 11th June 2020 but didn't get it serviced, 1st service (Essex), was not completed until 22,412 miles on 15th July 2021 so nearly a year and 6,000 miles overdue.

The 2nd service (Milton Keynes) was completed Feb 2022 with 29554 miles. It was serviced early as it was sold as used approved and serviced as part of the sale but only had an oil change. The third owner picked it up in July 2022.

The 3rd service (Milton Keynes) was completed Feb 2023 with 31803 miles. And put it on private plate FF60MEZ (now on a Merc diesel) in 2023 for a month before returning to original reg and sold 14th July 2023.

The fourth owner put in private plate TC06TES (now on another V6 P380 exactly the same) on 30th July 2023 until 28th September 2023 when it was sold again and it has been without an owner as far as I can see until now although tax expired in December and officially been on sale since 9th Jan. The 4th service was completed yesterday at Quirks Service Centre with 34168 miles but they forgot to do the rear diff oil.

The key takeaways for me are.

1) If servicing is important to you. 1st service was late and over on miles. Missed rear diff oil change.

2) Why did 3rd owner only keep it for a couple of months and then replaced it with exactly the same P380 AWD of the same model year. Where has it been since September.

Cheers simpleR,
I was sure the service printout I was shown had a service completed before the July 21 service but will re-check with dealer as I could have missed that. I will query the diff oil. Being an F- type newbie are the transfer box oil and diff oil schedules different? I saw it had the transfer box oil done and would have assumed this was diff(s) as well.
I checked the previous plates myself and FF60 came up as not in use for me and TC06TES was the one fitted to a diesel Mercedes?
It doesn’t show as being any kind of insurance repair so I guess that leaves the possibility the previous owner rejected the car after a couple of months.

By bad copying from various sources.

FF60MEZ
PNC says No Trace on the requested vehicle details - CODE 0010
But car check comes back as P380 so that might just be the last car the plate was on.

TC06TES
PNC says Merc E220 AMG line, car 93105

Customer Copy of Service History.

Transfer case is for the AWD. Rear diff is a separate item.

Jaguar dealer tells me 7 years for diff oil. As it only has 34k on it there is no leverage to get it over-maintained but I may get it done myself.
Life’s too short, the car is mint, boot is dry and I could be looking forever if I wanted to, so I did the deed and entered the ownership experience.

Congratulations and welcome.

The rear diff oil is every 4 years.
The front diff oil is every 9 years.

Don't you just love Jaguar dealers! You would think they would/should know lol.
