Hi all,

Derek here from Fife , Scotland.
My current contract hire car gets handed back end of August.
And now that the F Types are now with my budget, and hoping to make a purchase in next month I thought I would join you guys on the forum.
Seen a few adverts for black F Types within 100 miles radius.
What's peoples opinions on black on the F Type, looks good on photos. But in person does it hide its shape/lines?
Another idea going thru head is changing wheel colour to gold or dark bronze if choosing a black F Type.

Being a valeter I know how hard it is to keep black looking good, so I'd probably go down the road of paint correction ceramic coating, PPF on front bumper and bonnet.

Welcome to the forum Derek!

From personal experience black is certainly hard to keep pristine... I find the Jaguar paint to be soft in contrast to previous German cars I've had, so it shows swirls and minor marks easily. Don't allow bird muck to sit on it if you want to avoid marring!

In terms of whether black flattens the lines, I tend to think it does more so in photos than in real life. Whatever colour you choose these cars have presence!

My previous was a Coupe in Santorini Black Metallic with 20 inch carbon blades wheels. I had it detailed and a 5 year ceramic coating applied shortly after I purchased it and was never disappointed with its look and finish. A couple of photos for you

Maybe consider Carpathian Grey (sometimes referred to as storm grey). It’s a very dark grey that in shadow looks black and in light looks grey. Dark colours suite the F Type and seem to accentuate the curves.

I like the contrast of the silver wheels, but in that design I think bronze would look amazing.

Good spec and very nice colour spec. Really nice with the bright floor mats and headliner which is quite rare and only seems to have been available the first few model years. The main option missing is the pano roof but I'd say that's partially made up for by the bright headliner. It also doesn't have the exhaust button which is a bit surprising for an S.

Looks like ultimate black paint. I had it on my last Jag and unsurprisingly it was a pig to keep pristine but looked brilliant when clean.

Looking at the dealer's additional pictures you can see that it will take a bit of TLC. Also it's clearly suffering from the sticky interior plastics issue so be prepared to deal with that.

Yeah, I actually thought all S models came with the exhaust button, so looks like I'd have to have it in constant dynamic or sports mode to have the louder exhaust note all the time. But suppose if not driving it hard all the time I don't need the valves open and on this one just rely on the valves opening when a certain rpm is reached. I'm guessing it's still going to sound purity good either way. Should I try negotiate price for lack.of exhaust button??

Sticky plastics shouldnt worry me to much as I'm a valeter/detailer and can sort this out myself. As well as a good machine polish and lay down a high spec ceramic coating which would make life a lot easier to keep clean. Plus I've got a valeting garage at home to keep it, so it shine kept out the elements quite alot.
I'm hoping to keep mileage down as I'd be using the valeting van most days for jobs.

That colour combo does look quite sweet and sets it off quite well.
My valet business logo is black and gold and my VW Transporter is black with gold wheels also.

I don't think that sports mode affects the opening of the valves, only dynamic mode keeps 'em open all the time (subject to MY and software levels). Sports mode will tend to keep the revs higher, though, so you'll reach the opening point quicker.
