Hello from a Newbie

Hi to everyone on the Forum.<div><br></div><div>I should have introduced myself yesterday after I posted a reply to a topic, so doing that now. I have finally been persuaded to give up my beloved XKR, and have a F Type on order which is due to arrive in April. So it's the 2016 model and I've been trying to nail down what it will actually look like as it is one of the new colours.</div><div><br></div><div>I spotted a poster on the Forum (OMB) who has ordered the same colour (and which will be delivered earlier than mine), so looking forward to seeing the real thing rather than the "Build Your F Type" images, which to be honest are not very good. </div><div><br></div><div>I'm sure that it will be a great looking car nevertheless. But any views or feedback on Ammonite Grey would be welcome!</div><div><br></div><div>Kevin </div>

Hello Kevin and welcome onboard the FTOC.<div><br></div><div>I've not tried an XKR, so can't comment on the change to the F-Type. This is my first venture into Jaguar territory with the V8S.</div><div><br></div><div>Which model have you gone for and what information do you exactly want? I have a pile of papers etc on the new 2016 range of F's.</div><div><br></div><div>I haven't seen the Ammonite grey in the flesh - looks like Gun metal Grey to me, which IMO is smashing, but I have gone for a V8R Convertible 2WD in Italian Racing Red, as the other half swayed me ''Grey/silver looks too drab....blahdy blah''.</div><div><br></div><div>Mines due to be built sec on week of March, so could be around a similar delivery to yours. I'm only down the road in Dorset, so might be a chance to compare real life paint!</div><div><br></div><div><br></div>

<div>Like Christmas.....all over again!<br>
<div>Well, they had the blooming Easter Eggs on sale at least 3 weeks ago in the Supermarkets, so I think we're pretty spot on <img src="http://www.ftypeforums.co.uk/images/converted_files/smileys/smiley2.gif" border="0" alt="Wink" title="Wink" /></div></div>

Thanks for the welcome and for the replies. <div><br></div><div>Yes Tel, the colour choice is always an interesting one, and we all weigh up the pros and cons. I'm a big fan of the IRR colour. My XKR is an earlier red colour and still looks spot on on. I was actually going to order Stratus Grey, but then Jaguar confused me by re-pricing and introducing new colours for this year. But the gunmetal analogy is a good one.</div><div><br></div><div>I've ordered an R Coupe in the Ammonite colour, with pan roof and Rotor alloys (not the ones you usually see) and with Red/Black duotone interior.</div><div><br></div><div>Wanted to add something to the interior so have added light hex aluminium console, red seat belts and suede headlining. Other goodies added - heated everything, powered tailgate etc.</div><div><br></div><div>I've awarded myself a Masters Degree in the F-Type "build your model" system, which can be really confusing and sometimes misleading. As can dealer estimated delivery dates! So I will just have to be patient for a few more weeks. </div><div><br></div><div><br></div><div><br></div><div><br></div><div><br></div>

Hi KDS, welcome to the forum,<div><br></div><div>great choice of colours and trims, should look fantastic !</div><div><br></div><div>Now you just have the 'long wait', but at least you will be an expert by the time it arrves, due to all the reviews on you tube and in the magazines :-) </div><div><br></div><div>best regards</div><div>Jamie </div>

Hi Jamie, and thanks for the welcome. <div><br></div><div>Have just been jealously eyeing the pictures of the F Type S that OB123 has posted - looks great and now sure I've made the right choice. I've never bought a car that I haven't seen before, so good to see a real example, even in a photo. </div><div><br></div><div>Kevin </div>

<p>
KDS, mine arrived on Friday at the dealership. I'm in India, so another 8 days wait.<br>it's getting worse and worse... The waiting is killing.</p><p>The dealer promised to send me photos this week... I'll be posting them as soon as I get them .</p>

Thanks for the update. So the car is there but you are not - must be driving you mad. <div><br></div><div>I was supposed to be getting mine today, but last week the dealer told me that it's being held in "QA" as they were having problems with software installation, or updates. Not really sure what's going on to be honest as the build finished over two weeks ago. So reckon you'll still be getting yours before I do. </div><div><br></div><div>But sure that it will be worth the wait for both of us, and looking forward to seeing the photos. </div><div><br></div><div><br></div>

<div><br></div><div>Hi KDS,</div><div><br></div><div>Sorry to hear of the delay with your new F-Type.</div><div><br></div><div>I can empathise with you as I know the anticipation I felt when waiting for my V8S to be built last year...believe me it will be worth the wait!</div><div><br></div><div>If its any consolation, I read that the guys over the other side of the pond have their 2016 2WD's in the dealers, having said that the 4x4 (off road F-Types <img src="http://www.ftypeforums.co.uk/images/converted_files/smileys/smiley36.gif" border="0" alt="LOL" title="LOL" />) seem to be requiring the same Software flash.</div><div><br></div><div><div>Can you find out anything more detailed please? I'm expecting my new V8R Conv in a fortnight...'ish!</div></div><div><br></div>

I've now posted a few photos in the galery section, BRG F Type S AWD thread <img src="http://www.ftypeforums.co.uk/images/converted_files/smileys/smiley1.gif" border="0" alt="Smile" title="Smile" />.

So the latest is that my car is out of "quarantine" and will be delivered to the dealer late next week, for handover a week on Monday. I can now start counting sleeps again. <div><br></div><div>Expect to see a number of the new RWD and AWD R's start to hit the dealerships soon. <br><div><br></div><div>Difficult to determine exactly what has caused this problem, with slightly different versions and some speculation I think.</div><div><br></div><div>But anyway, all over now and looking forward to a bright, sunny day on the 20th. <br><div><br></div><div><br></div></div></div>
