Finally took the plunge....

Finally picked up my MY2018 Carpathian Grey F-Type R last Saturday from Sytner in Manchester, really pleased with the car except the 10" ICT Pro is on a really old version, which i should have checked when i initially viewed it.

Now need to try and get the software updated, as the version i'm on doesn't even have a software version option in the settings. Believe from reading here, that i will need to get a dealer to update the software before i get any SOTA options as i have now installed a Data SIM. Have read the software update threads here and will discuss with one of the dealers more local to me in Cambridge as i hope that due to the warranty they will do it.

Will post a picture when the weather is better.

I think dealers will only do a warranty software update to fix a problem, so you need to find out what the latest software fixes and complain about that! :)

That said, there was a free update that went out to enable Carplay and Android Auto, so maybe yours has missed that one.

Congratulations on your new purchase enjoy.
My car is 2018 model can the dealers enable CarPlay with a software upgrade?

The OP has a 18 reg which is MY19 (model year).

You cannot get CarPlay/Android Auto on a MY18 with the 4 physical buttons either side of the head unit. The OP has the update ICT Pro with virtual buttons at the bottom which may require a software update to enable SOTA and other features.

My screen has no buttons so can it be upgraded and is it a free upgrade (fat chance) at the dealers, I believe it is in the United States

Congrats on your car.
I picked mine up from Sytner Manchester last week. They did a fine job on the presentation when I went up to drive it home.
I'm in the beds area now looking for a future dealer.

I previously was in the north beds area. I wasn’t keen on the service from Jardines MK, had a bad experience with my previous XK there a few years back. I was impressed with Marshall’s in Peterborough and if you are looking for an Indy in future Nene Jags were great. If your’e further south Grange in Welwyn were very helpful a few years ago.

Thanks everyone for your kind replies, I might try Marshall at Peterborough. Sent a question to the sales guy I was dealing with at Sytner Stockport and he has completely ignored me, so much for aftersales service. I might try and call them but they are way too far away to help really.

Think i will take a read through the release notes of the last few software releases, sure i can find a few things there to complain about to try and get a dealer to update the software

Well done on the plunge! My MY18 is also from Sytner Manchester (well Stockport but I think we're talking about the same one) about a fortnight before you. Absolutely loving it!

I'm also trying to work out how to connect my phone. Mine doesn't have a 10" screen so perhaps isn't capable but, in that case, why does it try? Why does it ask whether you want to start InControl Apps when connecting a phone but then complain that InControl Apps aren't available...please try unplugging and plugging in again? Strange...you'd expect a car without the ability simply not to "know" anything about the phone being connected. What else does connecting a phone do if not that?

Please keep us posted how you go on this - I'm in the same situation and have emailed my local dealer but so far no reply... I'll follow-up with a call this week I think and see what they say.

FYI if you haven't found it, this is the post that confirmed to me it can be done (with a bit of fighting depending on the dealer): https://www.ftypeforums.co.uk/viewtopic.php?p=57599#p57599

Mine had this error when I didn't have the "InControl Apps" app installed on my phone - tbh I tried this and there was nothing of value in the InControl Apps for me (I don't use spotify...)
